He was buried at Catholic Cemetery, Mobile, Mobile Co., AL.

Patrick McCafferty came to his country about 1835 according to his naturalization records. Except for a short period in which he lived in Louisiana (as evidenced by his second child's --John Thomas--birth there) he was a resident of Mobile. The earliest census records show he was a liquor merchant, but all of the Mobile city directory listings show him as a dry goods merchant. Most of this time he lived at the corner of St. Michael and Conception Streets (#103 Conception) above his store. His death certificate states that he was 64 years old, born in County Donegal, Ireland.

Patrick was buried at Catholic Cemetery according to his death certificate (signed by his son-in-law, John McDonald, the city sexton and undertaker). There is no marked grave for either Patrick or Fanny, but the unmarked vault in the same lot (Section B, Lot 8) as his son John T. McCafferty is buried may be his final resting place. The step entering the lot is maked with the name "Jno. McDonald" which may either mean that Patrick's son-in-law is buried in the vault or that John McDonald gave his father-in-law the lot he had intended for himself.
