     Helen Josephine Keller was born in July 1899.¹ She married Algernon Albrook Holcombe, son of Algernon Lyman Holcombe and Sarah Elizabeth Brown, in March 1908.

     William Bert Holcombe was born on 2 March 1869. He was the son of Eugene Holcombe and Laura Mae Jewett. William Bert Holcombe died on 22 November 1879 at accidental gun discharge at age 10. He was buried at Mountain View Cemetery, Rapid City, Pennington Co., SD.¹

     Frederick Roy Holcombe was born on 2 July 1881. He was the son of Eugene Holcombe and Laura Mae Jewett. Frederick Roy Holcombe died on 30 August 1884 at bit by rattlesnake at age 3. He was buried at Mountain View Cemetery, Rapid City, Pennington Co., SD.¹

     Fannie Bell Jewett was born on 29 November 1870 at Farley, Dubuque Co., IA. She married Henry Orlin Holcombe, son of Eugene Holcombe and Laura Mae Jewett, on 26 November 1892 at Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., MN. Fannie Bell Jewett died on 19 August 1950 at Long Beach, Los Angeles Co., CA, at age 79.¹

     Frank Philip Holcombe was born on 4 November 1904.¹ He was the son of Henry Orlin Holcombe and Fannie Bell Jewett. Frank Philip Holcombe died on 13 January 1906 at age 1.¹ He was buried at Mountain View Cemetery, Rapid City, Pennington Co., SD.¹

     William Orlin Holcombe was born on 16 November 1902. He was the son of Henry Orlin Holcombe and Fannie Bell Jewett. William Orlin Holcombe died on 1 February 1911 at age 8. He was buried at Mountain View Cemetery, Rapid City, Pennington Co., SD.¹

     Patty (Martha) Flagg was born on 7 September 1766 at Kensington, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Abijah Flagg and Sarah Clark. Patty (Martha) Flagg married Asahel Holcombe III, son of Asahel Holcombe Esquire and Sarah Eno, on 6 June 1788. Patty (Martha) Flagg died in 1832.

     Sarah Clark was born in 1724 at Cheshire.

     Urial Holcombe was born in 1789 at CT. He was the son of Asahel Holcombe III and Patty (Martha) Flagg.

Urial is recorded in 1850 census of York, Medina Co., O. and in 1870 at Mallet Creek, Medina Co., O., which was setled by 1827. He build a house of bark sides on poles, set in the ground and lined with bed quilts, cooking being done on an open fire outside by a stump of a tree, where fires were kept burning to scare wolves away. Laura came from Genesee Co., NY. She and child while gathering nuts in the forest heard a distant scream, which she answered. Itwas soon repeated nearer whereupon she and child fled toward cabin, followed by a panther which was shot by a hired man then present at the cabin.


The census record of them in 1870 shows Urial and wife, Laura, their son, Solomon, his wife and ch. and Phebe A. Hubbard, b. NY 1799-1800 living as one family.

     James Harvey Holcombe was born in 1791 at CT. He was the son of Asahel Holcombe III and Patty (Martha) Flagg. James Harvey Holcombe died in 1842.

James was a pioneer at York, Medina Co., OH; his family being housed in a curde cabin. His wife cooked outside in an open fire by the side of a stump of a tree, for her family and 7 hired men. Her devotion to church worship caused her to endure discomforts of ox cart travel for many miles over roots of trees, the markins on which were followed as a road through the forest. ³


Lucy was enumerated in the 1850 York, Medina Co., OH, federal census, age 55. Children in the household were James 20, Sarah 14, and "Benj" 11.


Lucy was enumerated in the 1870 York, Medina Co., OH, federal census, age 76, living next door to son James Harvey II.


McPherson lists the marriage of James and Lucy as 1823, but also lists Hiram's birth as 1809-10.

     Flagg Holcombe was born at CT.¹ He was the son of Asahel Holcombe III and Patty (Martha) Flagg.

     Mary Diana Atkins was born on 28 September 1787.¹ She was the daughter of Josiah Atkins and Mary Gillett.¹ Mary Diana Atkins died at Blissfield, MI.¹ No issue. Adopted Stewart McNair, who m. and had children. ²

     Martha Holcombe was born in 1814. She was the daughter of Urial Holcombe and Laura Landers. Martha Holcombe married Hiram Lampson, son of John Lampson and Prudence (?).²

     Solomon Holcombe was born in 1824. He was the son of Urial Holcombe and Laura Landers.

     Asahel Holcombe was born on 22 September 1826 at Genesee Co., NY.² He was the son of Urial Holcombe and Laura Landers. Asahel Holcombe married Adeline M. Rowler on 4 September 1850. Asahel Holcombe died on 2 December 1901 at Duplain, Clinton Co., MI, at age 75.²

     Elizabeth Holcombe was born in 1831. She was the daughter of Urial Holcombe and Laura Landers.

     Hiram Lampson was the son of John Lampson and Prudence (?) Hiram Lampson married Martha Holcombe, daughter of Urial Holcombe and Laura Landers.¹

     Albert Lampson was born in 1833. He was the son of Hiram Lampson and Martha Holcombe.

     Laura Lampson was born in 1835. She was the daughter of Hiram Lampson and Martha Holcombe.

     Eliza Lampson was born in 1840. She was the daughter of Hiram Lampson and Martha Holcombe.

     Lucy Lampson was born in 1843. She was the daughter of Hiram Lampson and Martha Holcombe.

     Emma Lampson was born in 1847. She was the daughter of Hiram Lampson and Martha Holcombe.

     George W. Holcombe was born in 1851. He was the son of Solomon Holcombe and Mary E.

     Mary M. Holcombe was born in 1856. She was the daughter of Solomon Holcombe and Mary E.

     Adeline M. Rowler was born in 1828 at NY. She married Asahel Holcombe, son of Urial Holcombe and Laura Landers, on 4 September 1850.

     Alma (?) was born circa 1809 at NY. She married Hiram Holcombe, son of James Harvey Holcombe and Lucy Woolworth.

     James Harvey Holcombe III was born on 29 June 1832 at Van Buren, Chautauqua Co., NY. He was the son of Hiram Holcombe and Alma (?) James Harvey Holcombe III married Amanda M. in 1853.

James moved to Lee Co. (Northern) IL; thence to Rochelle, Ogle Co., (Northern) IL; is recorded in the 1860 census of Alto, Lee Co., IL, as farmer.

     Amanda M. was born in 1835 at NY. She married James Harvey Holcombe III, son of Hiram Holcombe and Alma (?), in 1853.

     Frank Hiram Holcombe was born circa 1855 at IL. He was the son of James Harvey Holcombe III and Amanda M. Frank Hiram Holcombe married Alice Gobert on 21 September 1887 at Oakland, Coles Co., IL. Frank Hiram Holcombe died in 1937.

     Ida Adelia Holcombe was born circa 1864 at IL.¹ She was the daughter of James Harvey Holcombe III and Amanda M.

     Alice Gobert married Frank Hiram Holcombe, son of James Harvey Holcombe III and Amanda M., on 21 September 1887 at Oakland, Coles Co., IL. Alice Gobert died in 1938.

     Frances M. Hanson was born in August 1829 at NY.¹ She married James Harvey Holcombe II, son of James Harvey Holcombe and Lucy Woolworth, circa 1852.
