Donald Holcomb Platt, 70, of Newington, died suddenly on Tuesday, (June 17, 2003) at the Presbyterian Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA, while on vacation. He leaves his beloved wife of 40 years, Marjorie (Tracy) Platt. Donald worked for many years for Universal Foods, retiring in 1995. Most recently he was employed by the Town of Newington and Pine Acres Campground, in New Hampshire. He was an active lifetime member of the Church of Christ Congregational, Newington, and he volunteered many hours at Avery Heights, Hartford. A loving and devoted father and grandfather, he leaves his son and daughter-in-law, Tracy and Diane Platt, of Exeter, NH; his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and James O'Rourke, of Cromwell; six granddaughters that he worshipped, Melanie, Rachel, and Ashley Platt, Shannon, Colleen, and Brianna O'Rourke. He also leaves a sister and brother-in-law, Dolores and Paul Turcotte, of Bristol; several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, at 12 Noon, at the Church of Christ, Congregational, 1075 Main St., Newington. Interment will be private in Center Cemetery, Newington. In lieu of flowers, donations to one of Don's favorite charities would be appreciated: ALS Association, Northern Northeast Chapter, 80 Colchester Ave., Burlington, VT 05401. Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, is serving the family. 2
