     Dorothy Frances Landers was born on 18 May 1942 at Springfield, Hampden Co., MA. She was the daughter of Harold Landers and Edna Belanger. Dorothy Frances Landers married Charles Richard Holcombe, son of Harold Holcombe and Elizabeth Leahey, on 12 June 1965 at Windsor Locks, CT.¹ Dorothy Frances Landers died on 1 May 2022 at West Suffield, Hartford Co., CT, at age 79.

Holcomb, Dorothy (Landers) age 79 of West Suffield, CT, beloved wife of Charles R. Holcomb, passed away May 1, 2022. She was born May 18, 1942 in Springfield, MA, daughter of the late Harold and Edna (Belanger) Landers. Prior to her retirement, Dorothy was employed by The U.S. Postal Service for 21 years as a rural letter carrier for Suffield and West Suffield and a member of the CT. Rural Letter Carriers Assoc., Branch 29. She also worked for CT. General Life Insurance Co (CIGNA) Bloomfield, CT. and the Suffield School System. She was a graduate of Windsor Locks High School, Asnuntuck Community College, Enfield, CT., Springfield College, Springfield, MA., and past President of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society at Asnuntuck.

Dorothy was a member of the West Suffield Congregational Church and former Sunday school teacher and advisor to the youth group of the church. She was a lifelong member and former officer of the Order of Eastern Star, No. 205, in East Longmeadow, MA., and a former advisor to the Rainbow Girls
She was a member of several historical societies including the MA Society of Mayflower Descendants, CT., Society of Genealogists, Windsor Historical Society, Descendants of the Founders of Ancient Windsor, Simsbury Genealogical and Historical Research Library, Suffield Historical Society, French-Canadian Genealogical Society of CT., CT Gravestone Network, Citrus County Genealogical Society of FL., and former officer in the Sibyl Dwight Kent Chapter DAR in Suffield. She was also a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America. Dorothy was a direct descendant of William Bradford, Richard Warren, Francis Cooke, and Stephen Hopkins of the ship “Mayflower”.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Charles R. Holcomb, and her son, David C. Holcomb. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Kipp, her son-in-law, Timothy Kipp, and her two beloved grandsons, Wyatt and Austin. She leaves siblings, Robert Landers and Beverly Landers, several nieces and nephews, and pre-deceased siblings Richard Landers and Jane Mortenson. Burial will be in West Suffield Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc., the American Cancer Society, or the West Suffield Congregational Church.

     David Charles Holcombe was born on 8 February 1970 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Charles Richard Holcombe and Dorothy Frances Landers.¹ David Charles Holcombe died on 26 November 2009 at West Suffield, Hartford Co., CT, at age 39. He was buried on 30 November 2009 at West Suffield Cemetery, West Suffield, Hartford Co., CT.²

David C. Holcomb, 39, of West Suffield, passed away Thursday, (November 26, 2009) at home with his family by his side after a long illness. Born February 8, 1970 in Hartford, son of Charles and Dorothy (Landers) Holcomb, he grew up in West Suffield and graduated from Howell Cheney Tech, Manchester. There he received an award in the National Honor Society and the DAR Good Citizenship program. He represented the State of CT in the VICA program in Phoenix, AZ as the youngest high school student in CT to compete as an electrician. He became a master electrician and taught students at Cheney Tech in the electrical trade. David worked for Electrical Union Local 35, Home Depot, and he had his own business, D.C. Holcomb Electric. He was a mason and held office at Warren Lodge # 51 , Portland. Besides his parents he is survived by a sister, Susan Holcomb Kipp and her husband, Tim of MD; two nephews, Wyatt and Austin Kipp. His family wants to thank Hospice for all the help given to David. Funeral services will be held Monday, 11 a.m., at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. (Rt. 159), Suffield. Burial will be in West Suffield Cemetery, West Suffield. His family will receive friends Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home with a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Suffield Congregational Church, 1408 Mountain Rd., West Suffield, CT 06093 or to Masonicare Home Health & Hospice, 111 Founder's Plaza, East Hartford, CT 06108.

     Karl William Koch was born on 6 March 1902 at Yonkers, Westchester Co, NY. He married Justine Olga Schlosser, daughter of William Robert Schlosser and Margaret Louise Tripp, on 13 July 1935 at New Hartford, Litchfield Co., CT. Karl William Koch died on 16 February 1981 at New Smyrna Beach, FL, at age 78.

     Karl William Koch Jr. was born on 18 February 1936 at Torrington, Litchfield Co., CT.² He was the son of Karl William Koch and Justine Olga Schlosser. Karl William Koch Jr. died on 7 December 1968 at at Sea at age 32. He was buried at New Hartford, Litchfield Co., CT.²

     Robert E. Peebles married Bess M. McKeraghan. Robert E. Peebles was born on 29 November 1895 at Blandford, MA. He died on 10 March 1951 at Springfield, Hampden Co., MA, at age 55.

     Sandra Susan Schlosser was born on 4 July 1946 at Westfield, Hampden Co., MA.² She was the daughter of William Robert Schlosser Jr. and Dorothy A. Peebles. Sandra Susan Schlosser died on 3 March 2001 at John Dempsey Medical Center, Farmington, Hartford Co., CT, at age 54.^3,2

     William Stanley Pratt was born on 4 June 1913 at Waltham, MA. He was the son of Herbert Allen Pratt and Florence Marion De Wolf. William Stanley Pratt died on 5 October 2000 at Granville, Hampden Co., MA, at age 87.

     Herbert Allen Pratt was born on 1 September 1884 at Waltham, MA. He married Florence Marion De Wolf on 31 October 1906 at Waltham, MA. Herbert Allen Pratt died on 25 July 1972 at New Smyrna Beach, FL, at age 87.

     Florence Marion De Wolf was born on 5 May 1884 at Duxbury, MA. She married Herbert Allen Pratt on 31 October 1906 at Waltham, MA. Florence Marion De Wolf died on 2 September 1956 at New Smyrna Beach, FL, at age 72.

     James Braithwaite married Eunice Thacher. James Braithwaite was born on 1 July 1888 at Langho, England. He died on 11 December 1970 at Lake Worth, Palm Beach Co, FL, at age 82.¹

     Haygood Spencer Bowden was born on 7 March 1904. He married Chloe Dorothy Wilcox, daughter of Gerald Raymond Wilcox and Dorothy Lucy Adelaide Tripp, on 15 December 1945 at Chesterfield, NC. Haygood Spencer Bowden died on 21 September 1982 at Liberty Hill, SC, at age 78. He was buried at National Cemetery, Florence, SC.
