Elijah Southworth Watrous married Clarissa Holcombe, daughter of Roderick Holcombe and Rebecca Winthrop. Elijah Southworth Watrous died on 22 December 1866 at Chester, Middlesex Co., CT, at age 89. Elijah was reared to the life of a farmer and had several hundred aces of land which he cultivated with financial success. In the fall of 1841 he removed to Michigan and purchased land which was then mostly prarie. In the course of time he developed his land into a fine piece of property.
