     Martha Potter Bontecou was born circa 1807 at Springfield, Hampden Co., MA. She married Oliver Ellsworth Wood, son of Hon. Joseph Wood and Frances Ellsworth, on 23 November 1836. Martha Potter Bontecou died on 30 April 1855.

     Frances Ellsworth Wood was born on 24 June 1838. She was the daughter of Oliver Ellsworth Wood and Martha Potter Bontecou. Frances Ellsworth Wood died on 9 April 1842 at New York City, NY, at age 3.

     Catherine Lathrop was born at Hadley, Hampshire Co., MA. She married Oliver Ellsworth Wood, son of Hon. Joseph Wood and Frances Ellsworth.

     Stiles indicates that he died in his 6th year. Winthrop Wood was the son of Oliver Ellsworth Wood and Catherine Lathrop.

     Susan Townsend Merwin was born on 17 November 1812. She was the daughter of Rev. Samuel Merwin and Clarina B. Taylor. Susan Townsend Merwin married Rev. George Ingersoll Wood, son of Hon. Joseph Wood and Frances Ellsworth, on 28 April 1840 at New Haven, New Haven Co., CT. Susan Townsend Merwin died on 6 September 1898 at age 85.

     Donna Siemiatkoski cites DAR record # 946; and George Vinal. Emily Merwin Wood was born on 11 February 1841 at Washington, DC. She was the daughter of Rev. George Ingersoll Wood and Susan Townsend Merwin. Emily Merwin Wood married Washington Irving Vinal, son of Dr. Levi Greer Vinal and Mary Ann Page, on 2 July 1878. Emily Merwin Wood died on 18 May 1916 at age 75.

     Donna Siemiatkoski cites Harriet Ellsworth Siebert and an interview with Oliver ellsworth Wood, Jr. Brig. Gen. Oliver Ellsworth Wood was born on 6 June 1844. He was the son of Rev. George Ingersoll Wood and Susan Townsend Merwin. Brig. Gen. Oliver Ellsworth Wood was graduated on 17 June 1867 at US Military Academy, West Point, Orange Co., NY. He married Mary Wadsworth Norton on 3 June 1873. Brig. Gen. Oliver Ellsworth Wood died on 4 December 1910 at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD, at age 66.

She was CHURCH MEMBERSHIP on 2 May 1873 at New Haven First Church, New Haven, New Haven Co., CT. She was graduated at Wellesley College, Wellesley, MA. She married Frank Chamberlain Porter, son of Prof. William Porter and Ellen Gertrude Chapin. Delia Wood Lyman died on 16 January 1933 at age 74. She was buried at Grove Street Cemetery, New Haven, New Haven Co., CT.

     Chester Wolcott Lyman was born on 25 May 1861 at New Haven, New Haven Co., CT. He was the son of Prof. Chester Smith Lyman and Delia Williams Wood. Chester Wolcott Lyman was graduated in 1882 at Yale College, New Haven, New Haven Co., CT. He was graduated in 1895 at AM; Yale College, New Haven, New Haven Co., CT.      Hannah Tooker Lawrence was the daughter of John Lawrence and Sarah Anne (?) Hannah Tooker Lawrence married William Cowper Wood, son of Hon. Joseph Wood and Frances Ellsworth, on 18 September 1846. Hannah Tooker Lawrence died on 10 June 1876.

     Fanny Ellsworth Wood was born on 3 April 1849 at Joliet, IL. She was the daughter of William Cowper Wood and Hannah Tooker Lawrence. Fanny Ellsworth Wood died on 15 March 1889 at age 39.

     John Lawrence Wood was born on 17 November 1852 at Joliet, IL. He was the son of William Cowper Wood and Hannah Tooker Lawrence. John Lawrence Wood died on 22 March 1933 or 24 1933 at Glen Ridge, NJ.

     A mining engineer, he graduated from the Sheffield Scientific School of yale University in 1876. Henry Ellsworth Wood was born on 18 January 1855 at Joliet, IL. He was the son of William Cowper Wood and Hannah Tooker Lawrence. Henry Ellsworth Wood married Belle Matteson McGinnis on 1 November 1880. Henry Ellsworth Wood died on 6 October 1932 at age 77.

     Alice Wolcott Wood was born on 31 August 1856. She was the daughter of William Cowper Wood and Hannah Tooker Lawrence. Alice Wolcott Wood died in 1915.

     Grace Lyman Wood was born on 18 February 1859. She was the daughter of William Cowper Wood and Hannah Tooker Lawrence. Grace Lyman Wood died in 1916.

     Julia Sterling was born on 29 March 1823 at Bridgeport, CT. She was the daughter of Ezra Sterling. Julia Sterling married Dr. Pinckney Webster Ellsworth, son of Gov. William Wolcott Ellsworth and Emily Scholten Webster, on 10 October 1842 at Bridgeport, CT. Julia Sterling died on 18 March 1854 at age 30.

     William Sterling Ellsworth was born on 11 August 1849. He was the son of Dr. Pinckney Webster Ellsworth and Julia Sterling. William Sterling Ellsworth died on 16 April 1852 at age 2.

     Julia Townsend Dow was born on 5 March 1837 at New Haven, New Haven Co., CT. She was the daughter of Lucius Kalapon Dow and Julia Ann Townsend. Julia Townsend Dow married Dr. Pinckney Webster Ellsworth, son of Gov. William Wolcott Ellsworth and Emily Scholten Webster, on 9 December 1856 at New Haven, New Haven Co., CT. Julia Townsend Dow died on 1 April 1915 at age 78.

     Lucius Kalapon Dow was born on 3 May 1803. He was the son of Hendrick Dow and Hannah Gilbert.¹ Lucius Kalapon Dow married Julia Ann Townsend on 4 May 1830.¹ Lucius Kalapon Dow died on 21 April 1858 at age 54.¹

     Julia Ann Townsend was born on 28 April 1808.¹ She married Lucius Kalapon Dow, son of Hendrick Dow and Hannah Gilbert, on 4 May 1830.¹ Julia Ann Townsend died on 28 April 1895 at age 87.¹

     Julia Sterling Ellsworth was born on 27 June 1860 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Dr. Pinckney Webster Ellsworth and Julia Townsend Dow. Julia Sterling Ellsworth married Augustus Julian Lyman, son of Rt. Rev. Theodore Benedict Lyman and Ann Margaret Albert, on 21 December 1882 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. Julia Sterling Ellsworth died on 4 February 1931 at age 70.

     Emily became a Charter Member of the Tuth Wyllys Chapter of the DAR in Hartford, CT #2256. She had in her possession a letter from Oliver to "Nabby", dated 23 April 1783. The letter was filed with her DAR Chapter. A Copy was given to the Connecticut State Library Archives division, where it may be accesed through the manuscript card catalogue. Her obituary (14 Feb 1937 in the Hartford Courant) noted two sisters, Mrs. J.C. Parker of Hartford and Mrs. Geroge Burnham of Falmouth Foreside, Maine, and a brother, Rev. Wolcott W. Ellsworth of New York City. Emily Webster Ellsworth was born on 21 May 1864. She was the daughter of Dr. Pinckney Webster Ellsworth and Julia Townsend Dow. Emily Webster Ellsworth married Andrew Julius Anderson on 23 August 1900. Emily Webster Ellsworth died on 13 February 1937 at age 72. She was buried on 16 February 1937 at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford, Hartford Co., CT.

     Harriet Ellsworth was born on 16 June 1865. She was the daughter of Dr. Pinckney Webster Ellsworth and Julia Townsend Dow. Harriet Ellsworth died on 31 October 1868 at age 3.

     Rev. Wolcott Webster Ellsworth was born on 25 October 1867 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Dr. Pinckney Webster Ellsworth and Julia Townsend Dow. Rev. Wolcott Webster Ellsworth married Leah Louise Von Wettberg on 11 September 1895. Rev. Wolcott Webster Ellsworth lived on 16 February 1937 at New York City, NY. He died after 1940.

     Ernest Bradford Ellsworth was born on 27 April 1870 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Dr. Pinckney Webster Ellsworth and Julia Townsend Dow. Ernest Bradford Ellsworth married Helen Ludentia Day, daughter of Frank Day and Annie Rickard, on 25 September 1901. Ernest Bradford Ellsworth died on 2 October 1928 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT, at age 58. Sons of the American Revolution #29349.

     Edith Townsend Ellsworth was born on 4 February 1872 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Dr. Pinckney Webster Ellsworth and Julia Townsend Dow. Edith Townsend Ellsworth lived on 16 February 1937 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT.

     Alice became a member of the First Church in Hartford. She attended Miss Hersey's School on Beacon Hill in Boston, where she met her future husband. After her marriage she moved first to Brooklyn Heights, NY, as George was a member of an architectural firm in New York City. They moved later to Portland, Maine because of ill health. She resided there for the rest of her life. In Portland she was a member of the State Street Congregational Church. She was a member of the Mayflower Society and served on the board of the Colonial Dames.

George was a businessman and travelled extensively, sometimes taking his family with him. They traveled abroad for nine months after Margaret graduated from Smith College. Alice Greenleaf Ellsworth was born on 6 October 1877 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Dr. Pinckney Webster Ellsworth and Julia Townsend Dow. Alice Greenleaf Ellsworth married George Burnham on 17 January 1900. Alice Greenleaf Ellsworth lived on 16 February 1937 at Falmouth Foreside, ME. She died on 9 April 1970 at age 92.

     Caroline Cleveland Smith was born on 18 December 1829 at Providence, RI. She was the daughter of Roswell C. Smith and Lois Cleveland Cady. Caroline Cleveland Smith married Oliver Ellsworth, son of Gov. William Wolcott Ellsworth and Emily Scholten Webster, on 14 June 1854 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. Caroline Cleveland Smith died on 31 July 1866 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT, at age 36.

     Roswell C. Smith was born circa 1797. He married Lois Cleveland Cady on 25 February 1828 at Providence, Providence Co., RI. Roswell C. Smith died on 21 April 1875 at Hartford Co., CT. He was buried at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford, Hartford Co., CT.¹
