     John settled in Wethersfield and was selectman in 1679. He removed to Windsor and was chosen Deputy to the General Court in 1698 and subsequently. John Wolcott was born on 28 February 1644. He was the son of Henry Wolcott and Sarah Newberry. John Wolcott married Mary Chester, daughter of Capt. John Chester, on 13 February 1677. John Wolcott died on 23 January 1711 or 1712.

     Mary Chester was born on 23 December 1654. She was the daughter of Capt. John Chester. Mary Chester married John Wolcott, son of Henry Wolcott and Sarah Newberry, on 13 February 1677. Mary Chester died on 10 July 1689 at age 34.

     Lt. Charles Wolcott was born on 3 September 1681. He was the son of John Wolcott and Mary Chester. Lt. Charles Wolcott died on 20 July 1754 at age 72.

     The Wolcott genealogy lists Jerusha's spouse as Epaphras Bissell. It is a leap, but there is only one Epaphras in the Bissell Genealogy, and we will follow that line. Jerusha Wolcott was born on 8 October 1775. She was the daughter of Senator Samuel Wolcott and Jerusha Wolcott. Jerusha Wolcott married Epaphras Bissell, son of Capt. Aaron Bissell and Dorothy Stoughton, on 30 November 1794.

     Naomi Wolcott was born on 10 October 1777. She was the daughter of Senator Samuel Wolcott and Jerusha Wolcott. Naomi Wolcott married James Wadsworth on 1 October 1804.

     Samuel Wolcott was born on 12 December 1781. He was the son of Senator Samuel Wolcott and Jerusha Wolcott. Samuel Wolcott died on 17 February 1795 at age 13.

     Representative to the Connecticut Legislature. Moved to Jacksonville, Ill. Elihu Wolcott was born on 12 February 1784. He was the son of Senator Samuel Wolcott and Jerusha Wolcott. Elihu Wolcott died on 2 December 1858 at age 74.

     Ursula Wolcott was born on 17 November 1788. She was the daughter of Senator Samuel Wolcott and Jerusha Wolcott.

     Rua (?) was also known as Zeruah (?)² She was born circa 1802 at VT.² She married Jarvis Alderman, son of Joseph Alderman III and Rosina Alderman.¹

     He was captain of a mounted troop in his native town; removed first to Michigan and then to Illinois. Horace Wolcott was born on 25 March 1794. He was the son of Senator Samuel Wolcott and Jerusha Wolcott. Horace Wolcott died in 1838 at IL.

     Capt. Gideon Wolcott was born in 1712. He was the son of Lt. Henry Wolcott and Rachel Talcott. Capt. Gideon Wolcott married Abigail Mather, daughter of Dr. Samuel Mather and Abigail Grant, on 27 February 1739. Capt. Gideon Wolcott married Naomi Olmsted, daughter of Joseph Olmsted and Hannah Marsh, in 1745. Capt. Gideon Wolcott died on 5 June 1761.

Gideon commanded one of the companies raised by the colonists in 1760 against the French and Indians.

     Abigail Mather was born on 6 March 1721 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Dr. Samuel Mather and Abigail Grant. Abigail Mather married Capt. Gideon Wolcott, son of Lt. Henry Wolcott and Rachel Talcott, on 27 February 1739. Abigail Mather died on 9 June 1741 at age 20.

     Naomi Olmsted was born on 1 March 1721. She was the daughter of Joseph Olmsted and Hannah Marsh. Naomi Olmsted married Capt. Gideon Wolcott, son of Lt. Henry Wolcott and Rachel Talcott, in 1745. Naomi Olmsted died on 7 November 1775 at age 54.

     Lt. Henry Wolcott was born on 20 May 1670. He was the son of Simon Wolcott and Martha Pitkin. Lt. Henry Wolcott married Jane Allyn, daughter of Capt. Thomas Allyn and Abigail Warham, on 1 April 1696. Lt. Henry Wolcott married Rachel Talcott. Lt. Henry Wolcott died on 17 November 1747 at age 77.

Lieut. Henry Wolcott was one of the original proprietors of Tolland and Wellington in Connecticut. He had married a third time according to the Wolcott Genealogy, April 11, 1727, to Hannah, widow of John Wolcott, but there is not enough information to place her.

     Rachel Talcott married Lt. Henry Wolcott, son of Simon Wolcott and Martha Pitkin. Rachel Talcott died on 8 January 1725.

     Oliver Ellsworth III was born on 17 April 1810 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Major Martin Ellsworth and Sophia Wolcott. Oliver Ellsworth III died on 22 August 1841 at "kick of a horse" at age 31.

     Donna Siemiatkoski also cites the Wolcott Genealogy, Stiles, History of Ancient Windsor ; and Harreit Ellsworth Siebert. Col. Samuel Wolcott Ellsworth was born on 18 January 1812 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Major Martin Ellsworth and Sophia Wolcott. Col. Samuel Wolcott Ellsworth married Eleanor Drake, daughter of Bildad Drake and Kezia Loomis, on 27 November 1834 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Col. Samuel Wolcott Ellsworth died on 3 February 1882 at Lafayette, Tippecanoe Co., IN, at age 70.

     Abigail Wolcott Ellsworth was born on 6 January 1814 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Major Martin Ellsworth and Sophia Wolcott. Abigail Wolcott Ellsworth married David Aiken Hall, son of Rev. William F. Hall and Susan Aiken, on 25 December 1838 at First Church, Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Abigail Wolcott Ellsworth died on 6 April 1874 at Springfield, Hampden Co., MA, at age 60.

     Frederick Ellsworth was born on 21 April 1816 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Major Martin Ellsworth and Sophia Wolcott. Frederick Ellsworth married Elizabeth Halsey, daughter of James Roderick Halsey and Keziah Ellsworth, on 27 April 1846 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Frederick Ellsworth died on 24 September 1878 at Gout and diabetes, Windsor, Hartford Co., CT, at age 62.

     Delia Williams Ellsworth was born on 20 June 1818 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Major Martin Ellsworth and Sophia Wolcott. Delia Williams Ellsworth married Henry Griswold Taintor, son of Solomon Taintor and Judith Bulkeley, on 25 September 1839 at Windsor First Church, Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Delia Williams Ellsworth died on 23 January 1889 at age 70.

     Ellen Sophia Ellsworth was born on 4 September 1824 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Major Martin Ellsworth and Sophia Wolcott. Ellen Sophia Ellsworth married George Washington Strong, son of Hon. Moses Strong and Lucy Maria Smith, on 14 May 1845. Ellen Sophia Ellsworth married Judge John Prout on 28 August 1878. Ellen Sophia Ellsworth died on 29 January 1897 at age 72.

     Henry Martin Ellsworth was born on 29 April 1827 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Major Martin Ellsworth and Sophia Wolcott. Henry Martin Ellsworth died on 21 October 1829 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT, at age 2.

     Stiles: Joseph " . . . held, at various times, the offices of Judge of Probate, Judge of the County Court, and, in later years, that of City clerk. In addition to professional labors, being of a literary turn, he spent much time and labor in collecting material and preparing a memoir of Chief Justice ellsworth, a work never printed, but subsequently embodied in Flanders' Lives and Times of the Chief Justices of the U.S." Hon. Joseph Wood was born on 24 March 1779 at Greenwich, Fairfield Co., CT. He was the son of David Wood and Sarah (?) Hon. Joseph Wood married Frances Ellsworth, daughter of Chief Justice Oliver Ellsworth and Abigail Wolcott, on 10 May 1809. Hon. Joseph Wood died on 13 November 1856 at Westport, CT, at age 77.

     According to Stiles she died of injuries received from a railroad accident. Frances Wolcott Wood was born on 25 March 1810 at Stamford, CT. She was the daughter of Hon. Joseph Wood and Frances Ellsworth. Frances Wolcott Wood married Rev. Sylvester Cowles on 18 September 1846. Frances Wolcott Wood died on 29 March 1873 at Railroad injuries, Gowanda, NY, at age 63.

     Stiles lists the date of the first marriage to Martha in 1843; however, Siemiatkoski lists the marriage in 1836 and then gives birth dates of the first two children that follow that date. The only source listed for this information is the papers of Harriet Ellsworth Siebert. Oliver Ellsworth Wood was born on 14 April 1812 at Stamford, CT. He was the son of Hon. Joseph Wood and Frances Ellsworth. Oliver Ellsworth Wood married Martha Potter Bontecou on 23 November 1836. Oliver Ellsworth Wood married Catherine Lathrop. Oliver Ellsworth Wood died on 18 December 1883 at Westport, CT, at age 71.

     Rev. George Ingersoll Wood was born on 20 May 1814 at Stamford, CT. He was the son of Hon. Joseph Wood and Frances Ellsworth. Rev. George Ingersoll Wood married Susan Townsend Merwin, daughter of Rev. Samuel Merwin and Clarina B. Taylor, on 28 April 1840 at New Haven, New Haven Co., CT. Rev. George Ingersoll Wood died on 9 January 1899 at Washington, DC, at age 84.

George graduated from Yale in 1833 and the Union Theological Seminary in New York City in 1838.

     Joseph Wood Jr. was born on 30 November 1816 at Stamford, CT. He was the son of Hon. Joseph Wood and Frances Ellsworth. Joseph Wood Jr. died on 5 December 1816.

     Delia Williams Wood was born on 13 September 1820 at Stamford, CT. She was the daughter of Hon. Joseph Wood and Frances Ellsworth. Delia Williams Wood married Prof. Chester Smith Lyman, son of Chester Lyman and Mary Smith, on 20 June 1850 at New Haven, New Haven Co., CT. Delia Williams Wood died on 3 October 1883 at Lake Mohawk, NY, at age 63.

     William Cowper Wood was born on 6 November 1822 at Stamford, CT. He was the son of Hon. Joseph Wood and Frances Ellsworth. William Cowper Wood married Hannah Tooker Lawrence, daughter of John Lawrence and Sarah Anne (?), on 18 September 1846. William Cowper Wood married Frances Cochron on 23 May 1878. William Cowper Wood died.

     Chief Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court from 1834 to 1847. Hon. Thomas Scott Williams was born on 26 June 1777 at Wethersfield, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Deacon Ezekial Williams and Prudence Stoddard. Hon. Thomas Scott Williams married Delia Ellsworth, daughter of Chief Justice Oliver Ellsworth and Abigail Wolcott, on 7 January 1812.

     Emily Scholten Webster was born on 4 August 1799 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Noah Webster Jr. and Rebecca Greenleaf. Emily Scholten Webster married Gov. William Wolcott Ellsworth, son of Chief Justice Oliver Ellsworth and Abigail Wolcott, on 14 September 1813. Emily Scholten Webster died on 23 August 1861 at age 62.

     Dr. Pinckney Webster Ellsworth was born on 5 December 1814 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Gov. William Wolcott Ellsworth and Emily Scholten Webster. Dr. Pinckney Webster Ellsworth married Julia Sterling, daughter of Ezra Sterling, on 10 October 1842 at Bridgeport, CT. Dr. Pinckney Webster Ellsworth married Julia Townsend Dow, daughter of Lucius Kalapon Dow and Julia Ann Townsend, on 9 December 1856 at New Haven, New Haven Co., CT. Dr. Pinckney Webster Ellsworth died on 29 November 1896 at Paralytic Stroke at age 81.

Emily Ellsworth was born on 27 September 1816. She was the daughter of Gov. William Wolcott Ellsworth and Emily Scholten Webster. Emily Ellsworth married Rev. Dr. Abner Jackson, son of (?) Jackson and Sarah Brownlee, on 27 April 1840 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. Emily Ellsworth died on 1 July 1853 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT, at age 36.

Cooke had no children by any of his four wives. Harriet Ellsworth was born on 4 July 1818. She was the daughter of Gov. William Wolcott Ellsworth and Emily Scholten Webster. Harriet Ellsworth married Rev. Russell S. Cooke on 22 December 1845 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. Harriet Ellsworth died on 24 February 1848 at age 29.

     Oliver Ellsworth was born on 13 December 1820 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Gov. William Wolcott Ellsworth and Emily Scholten Webster. Oliver Ellsworth married Caroline Cleveland Smith, daughter of Roswell C. Smith and Lois Cleveland Cady, on 14 June 1854 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. Oliver Ellsworth married Mary Wolcott Janvrin, daughter of Joseph Adams Janvrin and Lydia Anna Colcord, on 12 August 1868. Oliver Ellsworth married Orah A. Janvrin, daughter of Joseph Adams Janvrin and Lydia Anna Colcord, on 15 November 1871. Oliver Ellsworth died on 10 November 1878 at Elmoro, CO, at age 57. Elizabeth Ellsworth married Waldo Hutchins Jr. on 14 December 1853 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. Elizabeth Ellsworth died on 20 January 1901 at age 76.

     Nancy Allen Goodrich was born on 1 January 1793 at New Haven, New Haven Co., CT. She was the daughter of Judge Elizur Goodrich and Anne Willard. Nancy Allen Goodrich married Hon. Henry Leavitt Ellsworth, son of Chief Justice Oliver Ellsworth and Abigail Wolcott, on 22 June 1813. Nancy Allen Goodrich died on 14 January 1847 at New Haven, New Haven Co., CT, at age 54.

     Henry William Ellsworth was born on 14 May 1814 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Hon. Henry Leavitt Ellsworth and Nancy Allen Goodrich. Henry William Ellsworth married Mary Elizabeth West on 11 January 1844. Henry William Ellsworth died on 14 August 1864 at New Haven, New Haven Co., CT, at age 50.

On 7 June 1861, the heirs of Henry L. Ellsworth donated $500 to the Union School District #1 of Grand Rapids. The were listed as Henry W. Ellsworth and Mary E. Ellsworth, his wife,

     Edward Augustus Ellsworth was born in 1817 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Hon. Henry Leavitt Ellsworth and Nancy Allen Goodrich. Edward Augustus Ellsworth was baptized on 10 April 1818 at First Church, Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He married Jane McCamy. Edward Augustus Ellsworth died in 1837 at Lafayette, Tippecanoe Co., IN.

     Annie sent the famous first telegraph message "What Hath God Wrought" on 24 May 1844. Annie Goodrich Ellsworth was born on 5 January 1826. She was the daughter of Hon. Henry Leavitt Ellsworth and Nancy Allen Goodrich. Annie Goodrich Ellsworth married Roswell Chamberlain Smith, son of Asher Ladd Smith and Wealthy Pratt, on 5 July 1852 at Lafayette, Tippecanoe Co., IN. Annie Goodrich Ellsworth died on 21 January 1900 at age 74.

     Marietta Mariana Bartlett married Hon. Henry Leavitt Ellsworth, son of Chief Justice Oliver Ellsworth and Abigail Wolcott. Marietta Mariana Bartlett died on 17 April 1856.
