     Lydia Cornelia Bainter was born on 15 September 1815 at Muskingum, OH. She was the daughter of George Bainter and Lydia Sprague. Lydia Cornelia Bainter married William Holcombe, son of James Holcombe and Electa Eno, on 2 April 1834 at Muskingum Co., OH. Lydia Cornelia Bainter died on 12 April 1886 at Illinois Grove, IA, at age 70.

     Ellen Foster was born on 15 October 1823 at PA. She married Homer Holcombe, son of James Holcombe and Electa Eno, on 14 November 1839 at Muskingum Co., OH. Ellen Foster died on 15 April 1890 at Zearing, Story Co., IA, at age 66. She was buried at Zearing Cemetery, Zearing, Story Co., IA.

     James Holcombe was born in 1840 at OH. He was the son of Homer Holcombe and Ellen Foster.

James and Mary were enumerated in the 1880 Lincoln, Story Co., IA, federal census, ED 198, page 8. He was a farmer age 40, she was 32. Orren was 14. They lived between his father Homer and his brother Henry.

     Charles F. Holcombe was born in April 1844 at OH.¹ He was the son of Homer Holcombe and Ellen Foster. Charles F. Holcombe married Elizabeth S. Bainter on 13 September 1866 at Muskingum Co., OH. Charles F. Holcombe married Louisa J. Waters circa 1884. Charles F. Holcombe died on 3 April 1934 at Monroe, Muskingum Co., OH. He was buried on 5 April 1934 at Otsego Methodist Church Cemetery, Otsego, Muskingum Co., OH.

Charles and Selina were enumerated in the 1880 Monroe, Muskingum Co., OH, federal census. He was a farmer, age 37, she was 33. The only child in the household was Loella, 12.

Charles F. and Louisa J. were enumerated in the 1900 Monroe, Muskingum Co., OH, federal census. He was 56, she was 43. Children in the household were neice Pear Waters 12, and nephew Clyde Waters 8.

Charles F. and Louisa J. were enumerated in the 1910 Munroe, Muskingum Co., OH, federal census. He was a farmer, age 65, she was 53. There were no children in the household. Louisa had not had any children.

Charles F. and Louise J. were enumerated in the 1920 Monroe, Muskingum Co., OH, federal census. He was 75, she was 60. There were no children in the household.

Charles F. and Louisa J. were enumerated in the 1930 Monroe, Muskingum Co., OH, fedral census. He was 85, she was 72. Also in the household was Decatur A. Waters, 66.

This obituary appeared in the Adamsville Register 10 April 1934:

Charles H Holcomb 90, Civil War veteran and life-long resident of Otsego, died at his home there Tuesday afternoon, April 3, following a long illness from infirmities. Mr Holcomb was one of the best known residents of Monroe Township, where he had been a highly respected citizen the greater part of his life. He was also the last Civil War Veteran of the Township. One member of the John Trimble Post GAR of Otsego remains, W R Buker who resides with his son W O Buker east of Adamsville and is a resident of Salem Township. In early life Mr Holcomb was united in marriage with Miss Selene Bainter who preceded him in death many years ago. A daughter, who was the wife of D A Waters of Otsego is also deceased. Mr Holcomb was again married choosing Miss Louisa Waters of Otsego for his second wife, who with a brother William Holcomb of Zearing, Iowa, survive. He is also survived by one grandson and four great grandchildren. He was a life-long member of the New Hope Lutheran Church east of Adamsville. Funeral services were held at the Otsego MP Church on Thursday, conducted by Rev Paul Thompson pastor of the church, assisted by Rev N D Cunningham, pastor of the Otsego Baptist Church and Rev Dale C Recker, pastor of the New Hope Lutheran Church. Burial was made in the church cemetery.

     Elizabeth S. Bainter married Charles F. Holcombe, son of Homer Holcombe and Ellen Foster, on 13 September 1866 at Muskingum Co., OH.

     Louisa J. Waters was born in April 1857 at OH.¹ She married Charles F. Holcombe, son of Homer Holcombe and Ellen Foster, circa 1884. Louisa J. Waters died in 1941 at Monroe, Muskingum Co., OH. She was buried at Otsego Methodist Church Cemetery, Otsego, Muskingum Co., OH.

     John S. Holcombe was born on 5 September 1849 at OH. He was the son of Homer Holcombe and Ellen Foster. John S. Holcombe married Elvira Abbott, daughter of Moses Abbott and (?) Foster, on 30 May 1883 at Zearing, Story Co., IA. John S. Holcombe died on 12 November 1912 at Zearing, Story Co., IA, at age 63. He was buried at Zearing Cemetery, Zearing, Story Co., IA.

John and Elvira were enumerated in the 1880 Lincoln township, Story Co., IA, federal census, ED 120, page 7A. The census indicates that he was born Sep 1850 whereas Phil Stancil indicates 1849. John was a farmer, age 49, and Elvira was 37. They had been married 17 years and had no children, living or dead.

     Elvira Abbott was born on 15 September 1862 at OH. She was the daughter of Moses Abbott and (?) Foster. Elvira Abbott married John S. Holcombe, son of Homer Holcombe and Ellen Foster, on 30 May 1883 at Zearing, Story Co., IA. Elvira Abbott died on 29 March 1951 at Zearing, Story Co., IA, at age 88. She was buried at Zearing Cemetery, Zearing, Story Co., IA.

     Henry Holcombe was born in September 1854 at OH. He was the son of Homer Holcombe and Ellen Foster. Henry Holcombe married Mary (?) in 1880.

H. M. and Mary were enumerated in the 1900 Lincoln, Story Co., IA federal census. He was a farmer age 46, she was 38. They had been married 20 years and had three children, all still living. Children in the household were Myrtle, 18, Foster 7, and Clifford S. 2. Also in the household was father Homer, widowed, age 86.

William R. Holcombe died in 1951 at Zearing, Story Co., IA. He was buried at Zearing Cemetery, Zearing, Story Co., IA.

Phyl notes that the Marriage Registry Book at the county Court house in Nevada, Story Co., Iowa shows the marriage and that Amelia was the daughter of Joseph Holcomb and Lucinda Bower. It is unknown if Berisker was a married name, or if Joseph Holcomb was a step-father.
