     Bennett Vreelandt Lyman was born on 25 May 1883 at Buffalo, Erie Co., NY. He was the son of Richard Bennett Lyman and Mary Sizer Hayes.

     Maud Ellen Hayes was born on 25 December 1871 at Buffalo, Erie Co., NY. She was the daughter of Robert Pliny Hayes and Suzette Linzee Ingersoll.

     Suzette Ingersoll Hayes was born on 5 June 1874 at Buffalo, Erie Co., NY. She was the daughter of Robert Pliny Hayes and Suzette Linzee Ingersoll.

     Robert Pliny Hayes was born on 22 June 1878 at Buffalo, Erie Co., NY. He was the son of Robert Pliny Hayes and Suzette Linzee Ingersoll. Robert Pliny Hayes died on 13 October 1882 at Buffalo, Erie Co., NY, at age 4.

     Joseph Boyd Bonham was born in 1842. He was the son of William Bonham and Eliza Cook.

     Gertrude Bonham was born in 1843. She was the daughter of William Bonham and Eliza Cook.

     Van Wye Bonham was born in 1852. He was the son of William Bonham and Eliza Cook.

     Frances Matilda Bonham was born in 1844. She was the daughter of David Hayden Bonham and Sarah G. Reynolds.

     Eloise Margaret Bonham was born in 1847. She was the daughter of David Hayden Bonham and Sarah G. Reynolds.

     Martha E. Bonham was born in 1839. She was the daughter of Charles Bonham and Mary G. Goodwin.

     Robert T. Bonham was born in 1841. He was the son of Charles Bonham and Mary G. Goodwin.

     Delphin Bonham was born in 1843. She was the daughter of Charles Bonham and Mary G. Goodwin.

     John Charles Bonham was born in 1846. He was the son of Charles Bonham and Mary G. Goodwin.

     Regina Cook was born circa 1840. She was the daughter of George Cook and Sarah Bonham.

     Edmund B. Fanton was born in 1846. He was the son of Melwin Fanton and Mary Bonham.

     Elijah Hayden was born on 4 July 1741. He was the son of David Hayden and Dorothy Allyn. Elijah Hayden married Sarah Phelps, daughter of Lt. David Phelps and Abigail Pettibone, on 12 March 1765.

     Sarah Phelps was born on 15 October 1745 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Lt. David Phelps and Abigail Pettibone. Sarah Phelps married Elijah Hayden, son of David Hayden and Dorothy Allyn, on 12 March 1765.

     Elijah Hayden was born on 8 October 1767.¹ He was the son of Elijah Hayden and Sarah Phelps.¹ Elijah Hayden died before 13 July 1776.¹

     The Phelps genealogy lists the fifth child, the Hayden genealogy does not. Chandler Hayden was born on 9 May 1770.¹ He was the son of Elijah Hayden and Sarah Phelps.¹ Chandler Hayden married Cleopatra Phelps, daughter of Capt. Josiah Phelps and Anna Denslow, in 1795.³ Chandler Hayden died at Harwinton, Litchfield Co., CT.

     Ursula Hayden was born on 19 May 1771. She was the daughter of Elijah Hayden and Sarah Phelps.

     Sarah Hayden was born on 19 May 1771. She was the daughter of Elijah Hayden and Sarah Phelps.

     Ammon Hayden was born on 14 July 1774 at Harwinton, Litchfield Co., CT. He was the son of Elijah Hayden and Sarah Phelps.

     Elijah Hayden was born on 13 July 1776 at Harwinton, Litchfield Co., CT. He was the son of Elijah Hayden and Sarah Phelps. Elijah Hayden died circa 1848 at Coldwater, Branch Co., MI.

     He was reported, 1846, as having "moved west, and had a family of children." Jabez Hayden. Noah Phelps Hayden was born on 20 November 1780 at Harwinton, Litchfield Co., CT. He was the son of Elijah Hayden and Sarah Phelps.

     Allen was a soldier from Harwinton in the Revolutionary army. He remained in Harwinton until 1800, when he removed to Pompey, NY, with his family, where his great-grandson, Daniel E. Hayden of Syracuse, says he settled a Revolutionary soldier's warrant. He held a lieutenant's commission in the fifteenth Company, Seventeenth Regiment, Connecticut Militia, signed by Gov. Allen Hayden was born on 9 April 1753 at Harwinton, Litchfield Co., CT.² He was the son of David Hayden and Dorothy Allyn.² Allen Hayden married Annis Moss on 9 April 1778. Allen Hayden died on 10 March 1837 at Pompey, Onondaga Co., NY, at age 83.²

     Annis Moss was born say 1757. She married Allen Hayden, son of David Hayden and Dorothy Allyn, on 9 April 1778. Annis Moss died on 26 March 1825.

     Clara Hayden was born on 1 January 1779 at Harwinton, Litchfield Co., CT. She was the daughter of Allen Hayden and Annis Moss.

     Polly Hayden was born on 8 November 1780 at Harwinton, Litchfield Co., CT. She was the daughter of Allen Hayden and Annis Moss.

Allen with his father, Allen Hayden, and his three brothers, Zora, Harvey and Allen, Jr., came to Pompey, Onondaga County, N.Y. in Sept., 1800, and settled on what was since called the Todd Farm, about one mile east of Pompey Academy. They cleared about three acres of land and sowed it to wheat that fall. The spring following they cleared the land and set out the orchard west of the house, where it now stands. Four years after, Allen Willard married Abigail Castle, sister of Gen. Jabez and Philo B. Castle, and with his father bought Lot No. 94, situate about two and one-half miles south of the village of Pompey, on which he lived about fifty years. In personal appearance he was commanding, standing six feet in height and very heavy built, being well calculated to bear his part in the hardships of those early times, and many stories are told of his great strength and courage. A man well liked by his neighbors and of a kind and genial disposition. By profession he was a farmer, he did his work well and was successful, having a large and fine tract of land under good cultivation. He reared a family of eleven children, seven boys and four girls, who all lived to a good age, and to see both father and mother close their earthly career. When the father died, in June, 1858, in his seventy-fifty year, and the mother in January, 1864, in her seventy-ninth year, the whole family, in an unbroken circle, gathered around their remains as the last few words were said before depositing them away from sight forever. Then that united circle of brothers and sisters, all of whom were verging upon old age, and were themselves the heads of families, could feel, as perhaps they had never before felt, that in each they had lost a parent indeed - one who reared them in the paths of sobriety, honesty and rectitude. Having but little fortune to bestow upon their children, they left them the noble example of a moral and religious life - a heritage which the subsequent history of their descendants has shown that they knew how to appreciate and to profit by.

The first child of Allen Willard Hayden was born in 1806, and lived only a short time.

Rowena, the next child, was born on July 4th, 1807, and was married to Archibald H. Colby, and reared a family of five children, Helen, Henry, Caroline, Spencer and Imogene, all of whom are now living. Rowena died in Rochester, N.Y., in March, 1872.

Samuel P., the third child, was born in July, 1809, and was married to Sarah A., the youngest daughter of Elias Conklin, a short sketch of whose life may be found in this volume. Samuel P. Hayden was a successful farmer, and also a carpenter and joiner, and carried on that business for about thirty years. He lived on the farm adjoining his father's till 1855; he then sold his farm and bought the Wheaton and Jesse Butler farms adjoining, and also the stone store at the village of Pompey Hill, built by Beach Beard, and there carried on the mercantile business successfully for sixteen years. He held prominent positions in society and church, and was a very active member of the Board of Trustees of the Pompey Academy, being one of the executive committee and its President for fifteen years. He was well known, and was often appointed to town offices and filled them with satisfaction to all; he was also appointed Postmaster in 1860 and held the position for six years. He reared a family of six children; Sabra A., born in 1834, and now married to Homer J. Crandall, and living in Syracuse, N.Y; Ellen L., born in 1837; Elizabeth M., born in 1839; Daniel E., in 1844; Elma D., in 1847, and George, in 1854, Daniel E. served in the Union army during the late rebellion, and is now (1876) residing in Syracuse. In 1869, Samuel P. Hayden left Pompey with his family and moved to Syracuse and engaged in the lumber business. The family all remained together, an unbroken circle, until the spring of 1872, when Mrs. S. P. Hayden, a very amiable Christian lady, a good mother and an ornament to society, died at the age of sixty-two years, and was buried in the beautiful cemetery at Oakwood. Samuel P. Hayden died in 1874.

The fourth child of Allen Willard Hayden was born in January, 1811, and died in March of the same year.

Seymour, the fifth child, was born in 1812. He was a successful farmer, and lived both in Pompey and Cazenovia, N.Y., and afterwards moved to Syracuse and there died, the first of an unbroken chain of brothers and sisters so long united and without a missing link. Seymour Hayden married Mary Ann Coburn, of Cazenovia, in 1827. They had two children - Loren C., and Sarah A.

Willard, the sixth child of Allen Willard Hayden,w as born in 1813, and married Almira Hanchett, of Pompey; he was an active and hard-working farmer, and lived on the old homestead for a long time. In 1870, he with his family moved to Iowa, where he is now living and engaged in carrying on a large farm. His oldest son, Wilson, died when about two years old; Cora J. is married to L. B. Curtis, of Pompey; Oscar E, the third child, now resides in Rochester, N.Y., and is engaged extensively in the manufacture and sale of furniture. William is with his father.

Charles J., the seventh child of Allen Willard Hayden, was born in 1816. He married Esther Dannals, of Fabius, and removed to Rochester early, and there engaged extensively in the furniture trade and manufacture. He was, in 1855-6, mayor of Rochester, and has held other prominent positions. He has been very successful in business, establishing large warehouses and manufactories of furniture, and has amassed a large fortune. His family consisted of Frances J., Oscar E., Omar D., Ella and Charles, Jr. Oscar E. died when quite young, and Omar D. when about twenty-two years old.

Carmi, and a twin brother, who died, the eighth and ninth children of Allen Willard Hayden, were born in 1818. Carmi Hayden married, in 1847, Ellen Butler, who was a daughter of Merritt Butler, one of the first settlers and at the date of this sketch the oldest resident of Pompey. Carmi is a farmer, keeps a summer boarding house, is also a carpenter and joiner, and is at present (1876) post-master of the village. He is now the only one of the family left in Pompey. He has but one child, Nellie.

Angeline, the tenth child of Allen Willard Hayden, was born in 1819, married Solomon G. Chesebro, of Manlius, in 1842, and removed from there to Syracuse. They reared a family of three daughters - M. Dorleska, Anna L. and Frances M.

James E., the eleventh child, was born in 1822, and married Catharine Ives, of Oswego, in 1848, and settled early in Rochester, where he was since carried on very extensively and successfully the furniture trade. He has had five children, of whom only three are living, Eloine, Alexander and Aggie.

A. Louisa, the twelfth child of Allen Willard Hayden, was born in 1825, married Salmon P. Bishop, of
Pompey, in 1859, and lived with her mother on the old homestead until the latter's death. She then, being broken down in health, removed to Syracuse, where she died in 1867, at the age of forty-two years. She left no children.

Mary Ann, the thirteenth child, was born in 1826, married Lucius A. Nearing, of Pompey, in 1851, and now lives in Syracuse, where Dr. Nearing is a successful and prominent dentist. They have two children - Jennie and George.

Sely C., the fourteenth child of Allen Willard Hayden, was born in 1830, married Anna J. Coburn, of Cazenovia, in 1855, and the same year located in Syracuse, where he has since been extensively engaged manufacturing and dealing in furniture, has established a large business and amassed a good fortune.

This is, in brief, the record of one of the largest and oldest, as well as one of the most successful families of Pompey.

     Zorah E. Hayden was born on 9 April 1785 at Harwinton, Litchfield Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Allen Hayden and Annis Moss.¹ Zorah E. Hayden married Cynthia Wilcox on 28 December 1806. Zorah E. Hayden died on 18 April 1842 at age 57.

     Harvey Hayden was born on 16 October 1787 at Harwinton, Litchfield Co., CT. He was the son of Allen Hayden and Annis Moss.

     Olive Hayden was born on 26 February 1790 at Harwinton, Litchfield Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Allen Hayden and Annis Moss.¹

     Allen Hayden Jr. was born on 14 August 1792 at Harwinton, Litchfield Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Allen Hayden and Annis Moss.¹

     Annis Hayden was born on 12 September 1794 at Harwinton, Litchfield Co., CT. She was the daughter of Allen Hayden and Annis Moss.

     Augusta Hayden was born on 14 February 1800. She was the daughter of Dr. Augustin Filer Hayden and Asenath Harmon.
