Elmer Barnes Blackman married Jessie Susie Holcombe, daughter of Edgar Bronson Holcombe and Susan Roxanna Green, on 12 November 1914 at Methodist Church, Pleasant Valley, CT. Elmer Barnes Blackman died on 9 March 1970 at Canton, Hartford Co., CT, at age 69. He was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington, Hartford Co., CT.1

Robert Barnes Blackman married Mary Ellen LeGeyt, daughter of Charles Howard LeGeyt and Mae Williams, on 27 December 1945 at Congregational Church, Storrs, CT. Robert Barnes Blackman died on 20 June 2008 at Meriden, New Haven Co., CT, at age 86.1

Mary Ellen LeGeyt

Mary Ellen LeGeyt married Robert Barnes Blackman, son of Elmer Barnes Blackman and Jessie Susie Holcombe, on 27 December 1945 at Congregational Church, Storrs, CT. Mary Ellen LeGeyt died on 19 May 1970 at Torrington, Litchfield Co., CT, at age 47. She was buried at Center Cemetery, Barkhamsted, Litchfield Co., CT.

Russell James Sully

b. 8 October 1920, d. 7 March 2007
     Russell James Sully was born on 8 October 1920 at Chicago, Cook Co., IL.1 He was the son of John Sully and Winifred Muriel Holcombe. Russell James Sully married Geraldine Courvoiser Spencer on 15 March 1949 at Paris, France. Russell James Sully died on 7 March 2007 at Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility, Greenfield, Franklin Co., MA, at age 86.1

From the Greenfield (AM) Recorder, 9 March 2007:

Bernardston (MA)- Russell J. Holcombe Sully, 86, of Haigis Branch Road, passed away on Wednesday (3-7-07) at Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility in Greenfield (MA).

He was born in Chicago, Ill., on Oct. 8, 1920, the son of John Sully and Winifred Holcombe. The family moved to New York in the early 1930s.

Russell worked summers at a large tobacco farm in Connecticut, operated by his uncle, Ralph Holcombe. It was during this period of time that Russell developed a passion for farming and agriculture that stayed with him throughout his entire life.

While studying in Europe, he met and married Geraldine Spencer, who was aprofessional ballet dancer, on March 15, 1949. They were marriedin Paris.

During various stages of his life, Russell was a model in advertisements for various products, a ballet dancer, a soldier in the U.S. Army, a boxer, a poet, a freelance writer and a teacher at Franklin County Technical School in Turners Falls (MA), where he taught printing and agriculture for 13 years. Healso was a technical designer and artist for the Encyclopedia Britannica and the Book of Knowledge. Eight books of poetry, many of which were inspired and dedicated to Geraldine, were published over a span of 35 years.

When Russell retired, he and Geraldine, who were very devoted to one another, bought a farm in Bernardston, where he became a gentleman farmer and raised pheasants, vegetables, and sheep.

Geraldine passed away in February 2005 after over 50 years of marriage to the love of her life.

He leaves several cousins, including Anne Marie Mainville of Simsbury,CT, who was a major source of help during the final years of his life. He also leaves many close friends and acquaintances.

The family would like to thankthe nurses and staff at Charlene Manor and Dr. Alice Abbott for their dedicated care and services.

A memorial service was held at the Sully Farm on Saturday, May 26, 2007. Russell's cremains were mixed with his wife's ashes and scattered at the farm.

Geraldine Courvoiser Spencer

b. 31 October 1901, d. 28 February 2005
     Geraldine Courvoiser Spencer was born on 31 October 1901.1 She married Russell James Sully, son of John Sully and Winifred Muriel Holcombe, on 15 March 1949 at Paris, France. Geraldine Courvoiser Spencer died on 28 February 2005 at age 103.1

Anna Karainauskae

b. 21 August 1910, d. 28 April 1981
     Anna Karainauskae was born on 21 August 1910 at Brooklyn, NY.1 She was the daughter of John Karainauskae and Caroline Baronus. Anna Karainauskae married Harold Richard Holcombe, son of Frederick Mortimer Holcombe and Milly Russell, on 14 September 1931 at Tariffville, Hartford Co., CT.2 Anna Karainauskae died on 28 April 1981 at Fort Pierce, Saint Lucie Co., FL, at age 70.1

SIMSBURY(Connecticut) - Mrs. Anna (Karainauskae) Holcombe, 70, widow of Harold R. Holcombe, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., formerly of 42 Hoskins Road, Simsbury, died Tuesday (April 28, 1981) in Florida.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Aug. 21, 1910, she lived in Simsbury most of her life before moving to Florida two years ago. She worked more than 20 years at Ensign-Bickford Co.(a fuse and explosives factory that was Simsbury's main employer for many years). Prior to her retirement, she owned and operated Holcombe Soda Shop in Tariffville (Connecticut) and Holcombe Package Store, Hartford (Connecticut). ...Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Granby (Connecticut).
