Linda (Holcomb) Lyons, 65, of Vernon, loving wife of 19 years to Gary Young, passed away suddenly Monday, Sept. 8, 2014.



Born in Hartford, the daughter of the late Frederick and Amelia (Stulpin) Holcomb, she grew up and lived in Granby before moving to Vernon 34 years ago. She was a graduate of Granby Memorial High School, Class of 1967. Prior to her retirement, Linda was a nurse at a group home, where she pursued her passion for caring for handicapped adults. She enjoyed cooking, reading, and spending time telling stories of her childhood on the farm to her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Linda is survived by her beloved daughter, Kelley Moseley, and her husband, Jonathan, of Vernon; her two grandchildren, Aaron Kyle Moseley and Kaitlyn Elizabeth Moseley. She also leaves behind her cousin, Joanne Matt of Simsbury; and her best friend and lifelong "sister" Ferne Darling of Ashford. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Stacey Ann Lyons.

Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of her family.

Janet Fayne Brown Holcomb, 80, passed away peacefully at Meadowbrook of Granby surrounded by family, on Friday, (January 27, 2012). Born June 9, 1931, Janet was the daughter of Carroll Brown and Anna McGregor Brown of Firetown Road, Simsbury. She graduated from Simsbury High School in 1949 and married John W. Holcomb March 25, 1950. They resided in Simsbury until 1971, when they moved to Windsor Locks. They were active members of the Wesley Methodist Church in Warehouse Point. Janet grew up on a dairy farm and was always a farm girl at heart. All who knew her were drawn to her simple winning way. She was gentle and kind and devoted to her family. She learned her trade working at the switchboard for Ethel Walker School in Simsbury and later she continued in this career with 35 years at SNET in Hartford, beginning in the era of switchboards, through punch card computing to the modern technologies. She retired in 1987 and she and John devoted their time to RV Camping with their friends and relatives. She enjoyed the past times of many handcrafts, books, country music and especially day tripping, She passed on her love of crafts and creativity to her family. Janet will be sadly missed by her son, three daughters, seven grandchildren and the dear friends she leaves behind. Survived by Tyler W. Holcomb and his wife Marilyn, of Barkhamsted, Hillary Hutton and her husband Mark, of Vienna, ME, Jo-Ann Carl and her husband John, of Tolland, MA, and Carolyn Poitras and her husband Jim, of Granby. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jessica Poitras Millard, Joshua Poitras, Joseph Poitras, Hillary Carl, Casey Carl, Lucinda Holcomb and Schuyler Holcomb.

     Margaret Mary Holcombe was born on 11 November 1934 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.1 She was the daughter of Ralph Ernest Holcombe and Annie Agnes Kelley. Margaret Mary Holcombe married Francis C. Brennan on 11 February 1961.1 Margaret Mary Holcombe died on 24 May 2000 at Windsor, MA, at age 65.1 She was buried on 26 May 2000 at Saint Josephs Cemetery, Pittsfield, Berkshire Co., MA.

"Margaret (Holcombe) Brennan, formerly of Churchill Crest, Pittsfield, MA, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at the home of her son. She attended the local elementary schools and was a graduate of Simsbury High School. Continuing her education, she graduated from Hillyer College in Hartford. Most recently, she was employed as a secretary a the offices of Berkshire Orthopedic from 1980 until her retirement in 1992. A communicant of Sacred Heart Church, she was a member of its Rosary Sodalaity. A member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, she formerly volunteered with the B.M.C Auxilary."2

Helene Jeanne Guyen

     Helene Jeanne Guyen was born on 2 December 1919 at Noumea, New Caledonia.1 She was the daughter of Henri N. Guyen and Victoire Aime Louis.1 Helene Jeanne Guyen married Harold Goodwin Holcombe Jr., son of Harold Goodwin Holcombe and Ethel Percy Monson, on 5 September 1944 at Noumea, New Caledonia.1 Helene Jeanne Guyen died on 27 February 2014 at Suffield, Hartford Co., CT, at age 94.2

Jeanne was a member of the Junior League of Hartford and Secretary of the Alliance Francaise of Hartford for many years; in addition to her native French, she speaks Spanish fluently. Her favorite avocation is sewing, being specially proficient at embroidery. All lher friends know of her excellent cuisine. Her gardens reflect her horticultural interest. 3

Helene Jeanne (Guyen) Holcombe, 94, of Naples, FL (formerly of West Hartford), beloved wife for 54 years of the late Harold G. Holcombe, Jr., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday (February 27, 2014) at her daughter's home in Suffield. Born on December 2, 1919 in Noumea, New Caledonia in the South Pacific, she was the daughter of the late Henri and Victoire (Louis) Guyen. She met and married her husband in New Caledonia during WWII. They moved to the U.S and settled in West Hartford, where they raised their family before moving to Florida 20 years ago. Jeanne volunteered with several Hartford area charitable organizations and served as hostess and French translator for many foreign diplomats. She loved gardening and sewing but will be most remembered as a gracious and elegant hostess who enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Jeanne will be dearly missed by her three children, Joan H. Prior of Marlborough, Michele E. Holcombe and her husband Larry Brickner of Suffield and Thomas H.G. Holcombe of Marlborough; seven adored grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremy, Heidi, Matthew, Nicholas, Alexis and Ryan and six special great-grandchildren. Burial will be private and a memorial service will be held at a later date. The D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, Wethersfield is assisting the family.
