     Myron Holcombe was born on 4 April 1811. He was the son of Alpheus Holcombe and Hannah Kingsbury. Myron Holcombe married Paulina Beardsley on 27 September 1835. Myron Holcombe died on 21 May 1874 at age 63.² He was buried at Leroy Cemetery, Leroy, Bradford Co., PA.³

     Walsteain Holcombe was born on 7 April 1816. He was the son of Alpheus Holcombe and Hannah Kingsbury.

     Hannah Holcombe was born on 30 January 1818 at Bradford Co., PA.² She was the daughter of Alpheus Holcombe and Hannah Kingsbury. Hannah Holcombe married Robert McKee on 1 November 1837. Hannah Holcombe died on 25 September 1865 at Bradford Co., PA, at age 47.² She was buried at Leroy Cemetery, Leroy, Bradford Co., PA.³

     David Smiley was born in 1822. He married Phoebe Ann Holcombe, daughter of Alpheus Holcombe and Hannah Kingsbury, on 23 September 1846.¹ David Smiley died in 1904.

     Laura Agusta Smiley was born in 1850. She was the daughter of David Smiley and Phoebe Ann Holcombe. Laura Agusta Smiley married Morton Richardson Foster, son of Jacob Myer Foster and Delia Ann Wright, in 1875. Laura Agusta Smiley died in 1899.

     Morton Richardson Foster was born in 1841. He was the son of Jacob Myer Foster and Delia Ann Wright. Morton Richardson Foster married Laura Agusta Smiley, daughter of David Smiley and Phoebe Ann Holcombe, in 1875. Morton Richardson Foster died in 1909.

     Jacob Myer Foster was born in 1810. He married Delia Ann Wright, daughter of Jerome Wright and Lydia Bascom, in 1834. Jacob Myer Foster died in 1885.

     Delia Ann Wright was born in 1817. She was the daughter of Jerome Wright and Lydia Bascom. Delia Ann Wright married Jacob Myer Foster in 1834. Delia Ann Wright died in 1883.

     Ella Foster was born at East Canton, PA. She was the daughter of Morton Richardson Foster and Laura Agusta Smiley.

     Solomon Crosswell Spring was born in 1826. He was the son of Thomas Spring III and Candace Holcombe. Solomon Crosswell Spring married Marcia Irena Cowell in 1852. Solomon Crosswell Spring died in 1906.

     Marcia Irena Cowell was born in 1830. She married Solomon Crosswell Spring, son of Thomas Spring III and Candace Holcombe, in 1852. Marcia Irena Cowell died in 1883.

     Dora Marcia Spring was born at Bristol, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Solomon Crosswell Spring and Marcia Irena Cowell. Dora Marcia Spring was a member on 15 May 1909 at DAR, Katherine Gaylord Chapter; 73223, Bristol, Hartford Co., CT.

     Allen Job Beach was the son of Benjamin Beach and Mary Holcombe.²

     Leah Beach was born at Linden, MI. She was the daughter of Allen Job Beach and Clarissa E. Harmon.² Leah Beach was a member in 1909 at DAR; 73375, Washington, DC.

     Emily Catherine Clemmons was the daughter of Allen Clemmons and Catherine Helen Stillman.

     Helen Clemons Pearson was also known as Helen Catherine Pearson. She was born in June 1849 at NH.² She was the daughter of Charles H. Pearson and Emily Catherine Clemmons. Helen Clemons Pearson married Edwin Lawrence Barnard in 1874. Helen Clemons Pearson died between 1921 and 1923.

Edwin and Helen were enumerated in the 1880 Andover, Essex Co., MA, federal census. Their listing is obliterated and they can only be identified by the children listed. Childlren in the household were William L. 4, Melville, 4, Grace H. 3, Emily C.2, and Annie 9 months. Sister-in-law Frances Pearson, age 25, is also enumerated.

     Edwin Lawrence Barnard was born in July 1849 at MA.¹ He married Helen Clemons Pearson, daughter of Charles H. Pearson and Emily Catherine Clemmons, in 1874.

     Emilie Barnard was born in March 1878 at Malden, MA. She was the daughter of Edwin Lawrence Barnard and Helen Clemons Pearson. Emilie Barnard was a member in 1909 at DAR; 74145, Washington, DC.

     Clarissa Holcombe was born on 24 October 1799 at Norwich, Chenango Co., NY.³ She was the daughter of Rev. Asahel Holcombe and Phoebe Sweet. Clarissa Holcombe married Vincent Van Orsdale on 3 August 1821 at Lisle, Broome Co., NY.³ Clarissa Holcombe died on 6 December 1876 at Jasper, NY, at age 77.³ She was buried on 8 December 1876 at Jasper Cemetery, Jasper, Steuben Co., NY.⁴

     Vincent Van Orsdale was born in 1797. He married Clarissa Holcombe, daughter of Rev. Asahel Holcombe and Phoebe Sweet, on 3 August 1821 at Lisle, Broome Co., NY.¹ Vincent Van Orsdale died in 1889.

     Henry Vincent Van Orsdale was born on 8 September 1832. He was the son of Vincent Van Orsdale and Clarissa Holcombe. Henry Vincent Van Orsdale married Jane A. Shumway in 1857. Henry Vincent Van Orsdale died in 1887. The wives in the next two generations are reported in DAR papers #74332 (and by McPherson who copied them) also as Van Orsdale; quite unlikely. Mabel Bradley probably didn't find the maiden names.

     Jane A. Shumway was born in 1839. She married Henry Vincent Van Orsdale, son of Vincent Van Orsdale and Clarissa Holcombe, in 1857.

     F.H. Van Orsdale was born in 1859. He was the son of Henry Vincent Van Orsdale and Jane A. Shumway.

     Mabel Van Orsdale was born at Erwin, Steuben Co., NY. She was the daughter of F.H. Van Orsdale and Grace E. Van Orsdale. Mabel Van Orsdale was a member in 1909 at DAR; 74332, Washington, DC.

     Dr. Philander Winchester Payne was born on 9 May 1832 at "Missing Place" no. 6557. He was the son of George Miller Payne and Susan Holcombe. Dr. Philander Winchester Payne married Mary Forsyth on 4 May 1862.

     Mary Forsyth was born in 1846. She married Dr. Philander Winchester Payne, son of George Miller Payne and Susan Holcombe, on 4 May 1862. Mary Forsyth died in 1880.

     Elizabeth Payne was born on 17 March 1874 at Franklin, Johnson Co., IN. She was the daughter of Dr. Philander Winchester Payne and Mary Forsyth. Elizabeth Payne was a member in 1909 at DAR; 76554, Washington, DC.

     Annie Isabelle Barnard was born in October 1879 at Andover, MA.³ She was the daughter of Edwin Lawrence Barnard and Helen Clemons Pearson. Annie Isabelle Barnard was a member in 1909 at DAR; 76884, Washington, DC.

     Sarah Ewing was born on 21 April 1783 at Greenbrier Co., VA (now WVA).¹ She was the daughter of Capt. John Ewing and Ann Smith. Sarah Ewing married General Samuel Robert Holcombe, son of Zephaniah Holcombe and Tryphenia Niles, on 16 January 1802 at Greenbrier Co., VA.² Sarah Ewing died on 26 September 1850 at Vinton, Gallia Co., OH, at age 67. She was buried at Holcomb Cemetery, Gallia Co., OH.

Departed this life Sept. 26th 1850, Mrs. Sarah HOLCOMB, consort of Gen. Samuel R. HOLCOMB, in the 68th year of her age. The deceased was born in the State of Virginia, April 21st, 1783. Being thrown into existence at the close of our Revolutionary struggle, and nurtured in childhood under the influence of the severer habits of those earlier days, she was prepared, mentally and physically, for those arduous labors and responsible duties which she sustained in such a remarkable manner. At 18 years of age, (1801) her parents emigrated to this county, settled in Huntington township, then a wilderness, --Soon after she became a wife, and at length the mother of a numerous family.

Her untiring assiduities were put in requisition to train up her children in habits of industry, economy, virtue and piety, to usefulness and respectability, and if any of them fail to attain those excellencies, it will not be for lack of maternal precept of example. Her distinguishing traits of characteristics were firmness of decision, promptitude in action and untiring perseverance, in the execution of her designs. Her labors were not confined to her own family; for many years she ministered to the relief of suffering mothers in those scenes of trial and distress which peculiarly demand the aid of the wise, skillful and prudent. But amid all the assiduities of this life, her immortal interests were not forgotten or neglected. She had been a member of the Presbyterian church for a number of years before her death, and died in heavenly hope of immortal blessedness. But the longest life soon hastens to its close --the day of her departure has come. Her last sickness was long and painful. For months the hopes and fears of her friends alternated, as her symptoms became more or less favorable --but from the first, she had a settled conviction that she should not recover. Her funeral was attended on Friday, 27th, by a numerous congregation. --The services were performed by Rev. H. R. HOWE. The text for the occasion was Mark 14: 6, "She hath done what she could." All her surviving children enjoyed the painful pleasure of following her mortal remains to the place appointed for all the living.

Her labors done, securely laid
To this, her last retreat,
Unheeded o'er her silent dust
The storms of life shall beat.

     Capt. John Ewing was born on 27 December 1747 at Orange Co., NC.¹ He was the son of James Ewing and Sarah (?)¹ Capt. John Ewing married Ann Smith on 22 April 1774 at Pocaontas Co., WV.¹ Capt. John Ewing was buried at Vinton, Gallia Co., OH.¹ He died on 23 December 1824 at Huntington Twp., Gallia Co., OH, at age 76.¹

     Mary Matthews was born on 7 April 1818 at Gallia Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of Col. Phineas Matthews and Abigail Nobles.¹ Mary Matthews married John Ewing Holcombe, son of General Samuel Robert Holcombe and Sarah Ewing, on 1 September 1838 at Gallia Co., OH.^1,2 Mary Matthews died on 15 December 1894 at Bates Co, MO, at age 76.¹
