     Ezra Griswold was born on 1 December 1725 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Samuel Griswold and Elizabeth Gaylord. Ezra Griswold died on 2 May 1726.

     Abigail Barnard was born on 24 July 1706. She was the daughter of Sgt. Joseph Barnard and Abigail Griswold.

     Sarah Barnard was born on 23 September 1707. She was the daughter of Sgt. Joseph Barnard and Abigail Griswold.

     Ebenezer Barnard died young. He was born on 6 September 1710. He was the son of Sgt. Joseph Barnard and Abigail Griswold.

     Anne Barnard was born on 28 February 1712/13.¹ She was the daughter of Sgt. Joseph Barnard and Abigail Griswold.

     David Barnard was born on 3 November 1714. He was the son of Sgt. Joseph Barnard and Abigail Griswold. David Barnard died on 27 May 1718 at age 3.

     Rebecca Barnard was the daughter of Sgt. Joseph Barnard and Abigail Griswold.

     Sarah Griswold was born on 5 June 1740 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Hezekiah Griswold and Sarah Barnard.² Sarah Griswold died on 14 July 1740 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.

     Hezekiah Griswold died on 28 February 1741/42 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was born on 28 February 1741/42 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Hezekiah Griswold and Sarah Barnard.²

     Mercy Griswold was born on 29 June 1744 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Hezekiah Griswold and Sarah Barnard.² Mercy Griswold married Abner Weller on 1 April 1784 at First Congregational Church, Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.³

     Abigail Griswold was born say 1748 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.² She was the daughter of Capt. Noah Griswold and Abigail Griswold. Abigail Griswold married Roger Mills, son of Pelatiah Mills and Hannah Higley, on 17 April 1771 at Wintonbury (now Bloomfield), Hartford Co., CT.³ Abigail Griswold died on 4 March 1800 at Bowman's Creek, Canajoharie, Montgomery Co., NY.³

Originally this Abigail was thought to be the daughter of Hezekiah Griswold. However, Coralee Griswold with the Griswold Family Association notes that new research has corrected this. Abigail is the daughter of Noah and Abigail (Griswold) Griswold. She references a NEHGR article by Helen S. Ullmannm, Oct 1995, vol 596; p. 390-394. Helen, of course, also wrote the Mills Genealogy.

     Frederick Griswold was born on 6 June 1748 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Hezekiah Griswold and Sarah Barnard.² Frederick Griswold died on 1 April 1751 at age 2.

     Prudence Griswold was born on 6 June 1748 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Hezekiah Griswold and Sarah Barnard.

     Lt. Daniel Phelps was born on 21 March 1701 at Poquonock, Hartford Co., CT.² He was the son of William Phelps and Hannah Hayden. Lt. Daniel Phelps married Mindwell Buckland, daughter of Nicholas Buckland and Hannah Smith, on 9 November 1728.² Lt. Daniel Phelps died on 7 September 1777 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT, at age 76.² Daniel served as a minute man in the 8th company, 1st regiment of militia from Windsor.

     Mindwell Buckland was born on 20 June 1700 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Nicholas Buckland and Hannah Smith.² Mindwell Buckland married Lt. Daniel Phelps, son of William Phelps and Hannah Hayden, on 9 November 1728.¹ Mindwell Buckland died on 21 August 1775 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT, at age 75.¹

     Capt. Noah Griswold was born on 11 September 1722 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.² He was the son of Matthew Griswold and Mary Phelps. Capt. Noah Griswold married Abigail Griswold, daughter of Sergt. John Griswold and Abigail Gaylord, before 25 October 1745.³ Capt. Noah Griswold married Mindwell Phelps, daughter of Lt. Daniel Phelps and Mindwell Buckland, after 17 October 1755.⁴ Capt. Noah Griswold died on 24 September 1789 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT, at age 67.⁴ He was buried at Old Poquonock Burying Ground, Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.^4,5

     Isaac Gillett was born on 16 May 1720 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Isaac Gillett and Elizabeth Griswold.¹ Isaac Gillett married Honorah Stevens, daughter of Thomas Stevens and Miriam Buell, on 28 December 1742 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹

     Jacob Gillett was born on 27 January 1726 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Isaac Gillett and Elizabeth Griswold. Jacob Gillett married Lydia Phelps, daughter of Joseph Phelps and Rebecca North, on 15 December 1744.^2,3

     Ava Gillett was born on 28 December 1731 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Isaac Gillett and Elizabeth Griswold. Ava Gillett died on 28 December 1736 at age 5.

     Ava Gillett was born on 10 December 1739 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Isaac Gillett and Elizabeth Griswold. Ava Gillett died young.

     With his borthers Daniel and Aaron, Ezekiel was one of the first proprietors of Sheffield, Ma., and probably moved his family there about 1728. He and John Pell surveyed and located the "old ore hill" in Salisbury, Ct., a tract of 100 acres granted in Oct. 1731 and May 1734.

He, his uncle, Capt. John Ashley and others petitioned for a grant of 100 acres of land lying west of the Housatonic river near a large pond known to the Indians by the name of Wonokopoko Pond. he also had an interest in the forge, iron works and water privileges in Sheffield. He styled himself "husbandman" and "gentleman" in deeds. He took a prominent part in the management of town affairs, being chosen moderator in 1734/5, 1736, '37, and '38.

Ezekiel was also interested in military matters, serving in the local companies. After returning to Hartford he volunteered his services to Connecticut in the Cape Breton expedition and was appointed lieutenant in Capt Adonijah Fitch's company, his commission dated may 30, 1745. He died while in service. Ezekiel Ashley was born on 27 April 1701. He was the son of Samuel Ashley and Sarah Kellogg. Ezekiel Ashley married Hannah Griswold, daughter of Benjamin Griswold and Elizabeth Cook, on 5 November 1724. Ezekiel Ashley died in 1745.

     Zaccheus Griswold was born on 15 November 1730 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.² He was the son of Zaccheus Griswold and Mary Griswold. Zaccheus Griswold married Eunice Stanley, daughter of Nathaniel Stanley and Sarah Smith, on 13 March 1755 at Goshen, Litchfield Co., CT.² Zaccheus Griswold died on 12 May 1819 at Braceville, OH, at age 88.²

Zaccheus served in the Revolutioin as a sergeant in Capt. Pettibone's Company. Late in life he moved to Braceville, OH, with his son Erastus. ³

     Giles Griswold was born in 1731/32 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Zaccheus Griswold and Mary Griswold. Giles Griswold married Mary Stanley on 28 October 1762 at Goshen, Litchfield Co., CT.² Giles Griswold died on 7 March 1817.

Giles served as a deputy from 1779 - 1780. The previous reference to this Giles having served in the revolution (GFA III:27) i serroneous. The Revolutionary services applies to a younger Giles (1748-1818) #295(569). ³

The inclusion of son Oliver, b. Mar. 18, 1783 in the genealogy by the Frenchs is in error. See corrections in the 6th & 7th generation book, page 97.

     Hannah Griswold was born circa 1739 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.² She was the daughter of Zaccheus Griswold and Mary Griswold. Hannah Griswold married David Thompson, son of Gideon Thompson and Lydia Punderson, on 20 November 1760 at Goshen, Litchfield Co., CT.² Hannah Griswold died on 15 February 1826.²

Hannah and David moved to Poultney, Vermont about 1790 where David frequently was elected to public office. ³
