     Chauncey Hart Eno was born on 18 February 1849 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Elizur Hart Eno and Sarah Elizabeth Tuller.¹ Chauncey Hart Eno married Martha Sevilla Goodrich, daughter of Lucius G. Goodrich and Martha Abigail Ensign, on 3 November 1870.¹ Chauncey Hart Eno died on 12 August 1926 at age 77.

     Martha Sevilla Goodrich was born on 10 April 1859 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Lucius G. Goodrich and Martha Abigail Ensign.² Martha Sevilla Goodrich married Chauncey Hart Eno, son of Elizur Hart Eno and Sarah Elizabeth Tuller, on 3 November 1870.¹ Martha Sevilla Goodrich died on 27 April 1922 at age 63.

     Abigail Goodrich Eno was born on 5 December 1879 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Chauncey Hart Eno and Martha Sevilla Goodrich.¹ Abigail Goodrich Eno married Henry Edwards Ellsworth on 6 September 1919. Abigail Goodrich Eno died on 12 January 1964 at age 84.

     Henry Edwards Ellsworth was born on 27 March 1878. He married Abigail Goodrich Eno, daughter of Chauncey Hart Eno and Martha Sevilla Goodrich, on 6 September 1919. Henry Edwards Ellsworth died on 20 February 1950 at FL at age 71.^1,2

     Joseph T. Curtiss was born on 8 May 1901 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Joseph Toy Curtiss and Abigail Goodrich Eno. Joseph T. Curtiss died on 10 October 1992 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 91.^1,2 He was buried on 13 October 1992 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.²

Joseph Toy Curtiss, a Yale English professor for four decades and one of the original fellows of the university's Jonathan Edwards College, died Saturday at home in Simsbury. He was 91. Professor Curtiss, a native of Simsbury, was the first dean of Jonathan Edwards College, one of Yale's residential colleges, and was co-founder of the Jonathan Edwards Trust, which helps support the college. He retired in 1964.


During World War II, Professor Curtiss was stationed in Turkey with the Office of Strategic Services and was head of American counter-intelligence there.

When he returned to Yale, he co-founded and directed Yale's interdisciplinary program in the humanities for many years.

Professor Curtiss attended Simsbury public schools and the Hotchkiss School of Salisbury. He graduated in 1923 from Yale College. Soon after, he earned his doctorate in English from Yale University and joined its staff.

He also lived in Killingworth and St. Croix, Virgin Islands, before he returned to Simsbury 18 years ago.

His funeral was Tuesday at the Ellsworth Chapel of the First Church of Christ, Congregational, in Simsbury.³

     John Edwards Ellsworth was born on 15 September 1904.¹ He was the son of Henry Edwards Ellsworth and Susan S. (?) John Edwards Ellsworth married Grace Walker White on 5 May 1939. John Edwards Ellsworth died on 8 August 1994 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 89.¹

     Grace Walker White was born on 7 September 1917. She married John Edwards Ellsworth, son of Henry Edwards Ellsworth and Susan S. (?), on 5 May 1939.

     Martha Abigail Ensign was born on 1 February 1822 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Moses Ensign and Martha Tuller Whiting. Martha Abigail Ensign married Lucius G. Goodrich, son of Nathan Goodrich and Sevilla Bristol, on 23 December 1847.¹ Martha Abigail Ensign died on 1 February 1901 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 79.¹

     Lucius G. Goodrich was born on 21 June 1822 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Nathan Goodrich and Sevilla Bristol.^2,1 Lucius G. Goodrich married Martha Abigail Ensign, daughter of Moses Ensign and Martha Tuller Whiting, on 23 December 1847.¹ Lucius G. Goodrich died on 3 August 1893 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 71.¹

     Harvey Tuller was the son of Amos Tuller and Elizabeth Abernathy. Harvey Tuller married Fannie Noble, daughter of Phnineas Noble and Sarah Humphrey.¹ Harvey Tuller died in February 1851.²

     Fannie Noble was born in December 1795.² She was the daughter of Phnineas Noble and Sarah Humphrey.² Fannie Noble married Harvey Tuller, son of Amos Tuller and Elizabeth Abernathy.¹

     Phnineas Noble was born in 1752.¹ He was the son of Dea. Jonathan Noble and Elizabeth Cole. Phnineas Noble married Sarah Humphrey, daughter of Hon. Daniel Humphrey and Rachel Phelps.¹ Phnineas Noble died in May 1824.¹

     Sarah Humphrey was born on 7 April 1762.¹ She was the daughter of Hon. Daniel Humphrey and Rachel Phelps. Sarah Humphrey married Phnineas Noble, son of Dea. Jonathan Noble and Elizabeth Cole.¹ Sarah Humphrey died on 27 May 1821 at age 59.¹

     Oliver Cromwell Phelps Jr. was born on 18 May 1797 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Maj. Oliver Cromwell Phelps and Lurannah Ensign.¹ Oliver Cromwell Phelps Jr. married Sarah Hubbard, daughter of Nathaniel Hubbard, on 1 January 1822.² Oliver Cromwell Phelps Jr. married Harriet A. Wilder on 6 May 1858.² Oliver Cromwell Phelps Jr. married Laura Potts on 1 August 1861.² Oliver Cromwell Phelps Jr. died on 16 January 1877 at Forsyth, Monroe Co., GA, at age 79.²

     Lurannah Phelps was born circa 1799 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Maj. Oliver Cromwell Phelps and Lurannah Ensign.¹ Lurannah Phelps died on 3 June 1808.¹

     Laura Amelia Phelps was born circa 1803 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Maj. Oliver Cromwell Phelps and Lurannah Ensign.¹ Laura Amelia Phelps died on 23 April 1816.¹

     Lurannah Ensign Phelps was born on 19 December 1807 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Maj. Oliver Cromwell Phelps and Lurannah Ensign.¹ Lurannah Ensign Phelps married Jeremiah Asaph Tuller, son of Asaph Tuller and Ruth Case, on 26 January 1832.² Lurannah Ensign Phelps died on 8 August 1895 at age 87.²

     Sarah Hubbard was born on 17 May 1797 at Bloomfield, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Nathaniel Hubbard.¹ Sarah Hubbard married Oliver Cromwell Phelps Jr., son of Maj. Oliver Cromwell Phelps and Lurannah Ensign, on 1 January 1822.¹ Sarah Hubbard died on 19 March 1857 at age 59.¹

     Jeremiah Asaph Tuller was born on 4 July 1809 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Asaph Tuller and Ruth Case. Jeremiah Asaph Tuller married Lurannah Ensign Phelps, daughter of Maj. Oliver Cromwell Phelps and Lurannah Ensign, on 26 January 1832.¹ Jeremiah Asaph Tuller died on 27 September 1871 at age 62.¹

     Sarah Cornelia Phelps was born on 6 August 1824 at Bloomfield, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Oliver Cromwell Phelps Jr. and Sarah Hubbard.¹ Sarah Cornelia Phelps married Isaac Whiting Ensign, son of Moses Ensign and Martha Tuller Whiting, on 30 September 1846 at Forsyth, Monroe Co., GA.² Sarah Cornelia Phelps died on 12 March 1857 at Forsyth, Monroe Co., GA, at age 32.³

     Susan Jane Phelps was born on 20 July 1826 at Bloomfield, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Oliver Cromwell Phelps Jr. and Sarah Hubbard.¹ Susan Jane Phelps died on 2 July 1831 at age 4.¹

     Oliver Cromwell Phelps was born on 15 October 1828 at Bloomfield, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Oliver Cromwell Phelps Jr. and Sarah Hubbard.¹ Oliver Cromwell Phelps died on 10 September 1829.¹

     Oliver Roswell Phelps was born on 4 August 1830 at Bloomfield, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Oliver Cromwell Phelps Jr. and Sarah Hubbard.¹

     Susan Jane Phelps was born on 10 July 1833 at Bloomfield, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Oliver Cromwell Phelps Jr. and Sarah Hubbard.¹ Susan Jane Phelps died on 18 November 1852 at age 19.¹

     Abigail Georgianna Phelps was born on 17 May 1840 at Bloomfield, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Oliver Cromwell Phelps Jr. and Sarah Hubbard.¹ Abigail Georgianna Phelps married Frederick Ellsworth, son of Abner Moseley Ellsworth and Lucy W. Stoughton, on 31 October 1860.^1,2 Abigail Georgianna Phelps died on 16 March 1866 at age 25.¹

     Frederick Ellsworth was born on 25 January 1833 at East Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.² He was the son of Abner Moseley Ellsworth and Lucy W. Stoughton.³ Frederick Ellsworth married Abigail Georgianna Phelps, daughter of Oliver Cromwell Phelps Jr. and Sarah Hubbard, on 31 October 1860.^1,2 Frederick Ellsworth died on 12 January 1908 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT, at age 74.⁴

     Harriet A. Wilder was born on 8 November 1814.¹ She married Oliver Cromwell Phelps Jr., son of Maj. Oliver Cromwell Phelps and Lurannah Ensign, on 6 May 1858.¹ Harriet A. Wilder died on 4 October 1860 at age 45.¹

     Laura Potts was born on 12 February 1806.¹ She married Oliver Cromwell Phelps Jr., son of Maj. Oliver Cromwell Phelps and Lurannah Ensign, on 1 August 1861.¹

     Asa Jeremiah Tuller was born on 10 January 1833 at Hartford, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Jeremiah Asaph Tuller and Lurannah Ensign Phelps.¹ Asa Jeremiah Tuller died on 16 September 1866 at age 33.¹

     Martin Griswold was baptized on 4 October 1795.¹ He was the son of Zenas Griswold and Sarah Lane.

     Joseph Griswold was born on 26 September 1691 at Killingworth, CT.¹ He was the son of John Griswold and Bathsheba North.¹ Joseph Griswold married Temperance Lay, daughter of Robert Lay and Mary Stanton, on 29 December 1714 at Killingworth, CT.² Joseph Griswold died on 18 April 1771 at age 79.² His estate was probated in May 1771 at Guilford, New Haven Co., CT.²

     Temperance Lay was born in 1691.¹ She was the daughter of Robert Lay and Mary Stanton.¹ Temperance Lay married Joseph Griswold, son of John Griswold and Bathsheba North, on 29 December 1714 at Killingworth, CT.¹ Temperance Lay died on 18 September 1773.¹

     Giles Griswold was born on 2 June 1723 at Killingworth, CT.¹ He was the son of Joseph Griswold and Temperance Lay.¹ Giles Griswold married Mary Chatfield, daughter of Josiah Chatfield and Mary Hull, on 17 November 1746 at Killingworth, CT.² Giles Griswold died on 23 April 1804 at Killingworth, Middlesex Co., CT, at age 80.³

     Mary Chatfield was born on 23 March 1729.¹ She was the daughter of Josiah Chatfield and Mary Hull.¹ Mary Chatfield married Giles Griswold, son of Joseph Griswold and Temperance Lay, on 17 November 1746 at Killingworth, CT.¹ Mary Chatfield died by 1808.¹
