     Hannah Griswold was born on 8 February 1725/26. She was the daughter of Daniel Griswold and Sarah White. Hannah Griswold died on 4 November 1757 at age 31.

     White Griswold was born on 22 October 1727 at Bolton, Tolland Co., CT.² He was the son of Daniel Griswold and Sarah White. White Griswold married Elizabeth Cheeny on 14 February 1750 at Bolton, Tolland Co., CT.² White Griswold died in 1777 at Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co., PA.

The genealogy of White's descendants has been collected by Dr. Rufus W. Griswold of Rocky Hill, Conn, and forms a considerable collection.


White was with the one-year-men during the first year of the war, and participated in the invasion of Canada. He was also a private in Captain Theophilus Munson's company of the 8th regiment, Connecticut line. White Griswold was taken prisoner at the battle of Germantown and died aboard a prison ship at Philadelphia.

     Elizabeth Cheeny was born on 9 December 1728 at East Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. She married White Griswold, son of Daniel Griswold and Sarah White, on 14 February 1750 at Bolton, Tolland Co., CT.¹ Elizabeth Cheeny died on 1 August 1798 at Manchester, Hartford Co., CT, at age 69.

     George Griswold was born on 4 January 1730 at Bolton, Tolland Co., CT.² He was the son of Daniel Griswold and Sarah White. George Griswold died on 26 April 1813 at Bolton, Tolland Co., CT, at age 83.²

The original Griswold Genealogy listed a daughter Mindwell, b. 1760. However, the 6th and 7th Generation Edition corrects that and shows her as a daughter of Noah.

     Seth Griswold was born on 30 April 1732 at Bolton, Tolland Co., CT.³ He was the son of Daniel Griswold and Sarah White. Seth Griswold married Ann Loper.³ Seth Griswold died in 1816 at Colebrook, Litchfield Co., CT.³

Seth lived in New Hartford, Winchester and Colebrook, Conn. His will, dated 5 December 1810 was administered in 1817. He provided for his wife, and left the residue of his estate to his son Roswell who was to pay to his daughter Huldah Brown the sum of $80. The other children had previously been provided for, but are named in the will as Simeon, Benjamin, Benajah, Seth and grandchildren by his daughters Susannah and Ann. ⁴

     Ann Loper married Seth Griswold, son of Daniel Griswold and Sarah White.¹ Ann Loper died on 16 September 1774 at New Hartford, Litchfield Co., CT.

     Died at 10 hours old. Adan Griswold died on 12 June 1736. She was born on 12 June 1736. She was the daughter of Daniel Griswold and Sarah White.

     Reuben Griswold was born on 16 January 1738. He was the son of Daniel Griswold and Sarah White.

     Abigail Bissell was born on 23 November 1658 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Quartermaster Thomas Bissell and Abigail Moore. Abigail Bissell married Nathaniel Gaylord, son of William Gaylord and Elizabeth Drake, on 17 October 1678 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Abigail Bissell died on 23 September 1723 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT, at age 64.

     Luther Loomis was born on 19 August 1778.¹ He was the son of Luther Loomis and Jemima Bronson.¹ Luther Loomis died on 3 November 1778.¹

     Ruth Griswold was born on 3 August 1732. She was the daughter of Nathaniel Griswold and Ruth Gaylord.

     Naomi Griswold married Deacon David Marshall, son of David Marshall and Sarah Phelps. Naomi Griswold was born on 5 April 1735 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Nathaniel Griswold and Ruth Gaylord. Naomi Griswold died in 1824.

     Deacon David Marshall married Naomi Griswold, daughter of Nathaniel Griswold and Ruth Gaylord. Deacon David Marshall was born on 21 October 1728 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of David Marshall and Sarah Phelps. Deacon David Marshall died on 13 March 1776 at age 47.

In his will of 12 March 1776 David mentions wife Naomi, sons Elisha, Elihu, and daugherts Naomi, Olive, Pamela.

     Azuba Griswold was born on 14 July 1736 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.² She was the daughter of Nathaniel Griswold and Ruth Gaylord. Azuba Griswold married Joseph Foote, son of Daniel Foote and Mary Collyer, on 8 December 1757 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.² Azuba Griswold died on 12 August 1829 at Northampton, Fulton Co., NY, at age 93.²

     Joseph Foote was born on 17 February 1727. He was the son of Daniel Foote and Mary Collyer. Joseph Foote married Azuba Griswold, daughter of Nathaniel Griswold and Ruth Gaylord, on 8 December 1757 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ Joseph Foote died on 16 September 1779 at age 52.

Joseph served as a private from Connecticut in the Revolution. ²

     Nathaniel Griswold was born on 27 July 1742 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.³ He was the son of Nathaniel Griswold and Ruth Gaylord. Nathaniel Griswold married Abigail Pinney, daughter of Capt. Abraham Pinney and Elizabeth Butler, on 11 March 1762 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.³ Nathaniel Griswold died circa 1798.

     Abigail Pinney was born in 1745. She was the daughter of Capt. Abraham Pinney and Elizabeth Butler. Abigail Pinney married Nathaniel Griswold, son of Nathaniel Griswold and Ruth Gaylord, on 11 March 1762 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ Abigail Pinney died on 26 April 1820.

     Jeremiah Birge was born on 23 December 1719. He was the son of Jeremiah Birge and Mary Griswold.

     Mary Birge was born on 23 August 1721. She was the daughter of Jeremiah Birge and Mary Griswold.

     John Birge was born on 25 April 1723. He was the son of Jeremiah Birge and Mary Griswold.

     David Birge was born on 16 May 1725. He was the son of Jeremiah Birge and Mary Griswold.

     Ann Birge was born on 28 October 1726. She was the daughter of Jeremiah Birge and Mary Griswold.

     Peletiah Birge married Mary Grant, daughter of John Grant and Mary Chapman. Peletiah Birge was born on 8 September 1730. He was the son of Jeremiah Birge and Mary Griswold. Peletiah Birge died on 29 November 1815 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT, at age 85.

     Mary Grant married Peletiah Birge, son of Jeremiah Birge and Mary Griswold. Mary Grant was born on 20 September 1728 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of John Grant and Mary Chapman. Mary Grant died on 29 November 1814 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT, at age 86.

     Hannah Birge was born on 18 March 1731. She was the daughter of Jeremiah Birge and Mary Griswold. Hannah Birge married Joshua Phelps, son of Lt. Samuel Phelps and Abigail Eno, in 1752.

     Joshua Phelps was born in 1729. He was the son of Lt. Samuel Phelps and Abigail Eno. Joshua Phelps married Hannah Birge, daughter of Jeremiah Birge and Mary Griswold, in 1752.

     Mindwell Birge was born on 24 March 1733. She was the daughter of Jeremiah Birge and Mary Griswold.

     Lucy Birge was born on 23 September 1736. She was the daughter of Jeremiah Birge and Mary Griswold.

     Francis Griswold was born on 11 July 1683 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Ensign Joseph Griswold and Mary Gaylord. Francis Griswold married Abigail Colton, daughter of John Colton and Abigail Parsons, on 7 December 1703 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Francis Griswold died on 10 April 1760 at Norwich, New London Co, CT, at age 76.³

     Abigail Colton was born on 4 January 1685. She was the daughter of John Colton and Abigail Parsons. Abigail Colton married Francis Griswold, son of Ensign Joseph Griswold and Mary Gaylord, on 7 December 1703 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Abigail Colton died on 18 February 1754 at Suffield, Hartford Co., CT, at age 69; Gravestone reports age at death as 57.¹

     Capt. Edward Griswold was born on 13 July 1729 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Edward Griswold and Abigail Griswold. Capt. Edward Griswold married Abigail Phelps, daughter of Lt. David Phelps and Abigail Pettibone, on 13 April 1755 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Capt. Edward Griswold died on 22 February 1785 at age 55. He was buried at Old Wintonbury Cemetery, Bloomfield, Hartford Co., CT.

Edward served as a captain in the Revolution. His will dated Jan. 24, 1780 in file at the State Library, Hartford mentions his wife Abigail and children: Solomon, Edward, Simeon, Warren, Ursula and Charlotte. ²

     David Phelps died in 1732. He was born in 1732. He was the son of Lt. David Phelps and Abigail Pettibone.

     Capt. David Phelps was born on 26 March 1734 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Lt. David Phelps and Abigail Pettibone. Capt. David Phelps married Abigail Griswold, daughter of Edward Griswold and Abigail Griswold, on 7 April 1753 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.² Capt. David Phelps married Harriet (?)³ Capt. David Phelps died on 17 April 1811 at age 77.³

     Abigail Phelps was born on 5 November 1735 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Lt. David Phelps and Abigail Pettibone. Abigail Phelps married Capt. Edward Griswold, son of Edward Griswold and Abigail Griswold, on 13 April 1755 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Abigail Phelps married Amasa Case, son of Capt. James Case and Esther Fithian. Abigail Phelps died on 4 October 1798 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 62.

     Elisha Phelps was born in 1737. He was the son of Lt. David Phelps and Abigail Pettibone. Elisha Phelps died in 1776.

     Maj. Gen. Noah Phelps was born on 22 January 1740 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Lt. David Phelps and Abigail Pettibone. Maj. Gen. Noah Phelps married Lydia Griswold, daughter of George Griswold and Zerviah Griswold, on 10 June 1761 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.² Maj. Gen. Noah Phelps died in 1809.

     Rachel Phelps was born on 10 December 1741 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.² She was the daughter of Lt. David Phelps and Abigail Pettibone. Rachel Phelps married Hon. Daniel Humphrey, son of Deacon Michael Humphrey and Mercy Humphrey, on 10 April 1760 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.^3,2 Rachel Phelps died on 23 November 1809 at age 67.²

     Ruth Phelps was born on 15 September 1743. She was the daughter of Lt. David Phelps and Abigail Pettibone. Ruth Phelps married Jonas Case Jr., son of Jonas Case and Martha Phelps, on 23 June 1763 at Goshen, Litchfield Co., CT.

     Ruth Duncan gives the parents of Sarah as David and Abigail (Pettibone) Phelps. However, Judge Phelps, page 135, shows that this Sarah married Elisha Hayden. Sarah Phelps was born in 1745. She was the daughter of Lt. David Phelps and Abigail Pettibone. Sarah Phelps married William Case, son of Capt. Jonathan Case and Mary Beaman, on 28 August 1765 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.

     Susannah Phelps was born on 4 January 1748 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Lt. David Phelps and Abigail Pettibone. Susannah Phelps married William Nash.² Susannah Phelps died on 19 April 1819 at New Haven, New Haven Co., CT, at age 71.²

     Lois Phelps was born in 1750. She was the daughter of Lt. David Phelps and Abigail Pettibone.

     Abigail Griswold was born on 5 May 1732 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT.² She was the daughter of Edward Griswold and Abigail Griswold. Abigail Griswold married Capt. David Phelps, son of Lt. David Phelps and Abigail Pettibone, on 7 April 1753 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.² Abigail Griswold died on 6 May 1795 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 63.²

     Keziah Griswold was born on 5 July 1737 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Edward Griswold and Abigail Griswold. Keziah Griswold married Dudley Humphrey, son of Deacon Michael Humphrey and Mercy Humphrey, on 14 October 1761 at Norfolk, Litchfield Co., CT. Keziah Griswold died in 1833 at Norfolk, Litchfield Co., CT.

     Lydia Griswold was born in 1741/42 at Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of George Griswold and Zerviah Griswold.² Lydia Griswold married Maj. Gen. Noah Phelps, son of Lt. David Phelps and Abigail Pettibone, on 10 June 1761 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.³ Lydia Griswold died on 17 September 1821.

     Dudley Humphrey was born on 12 August 1739. He was the son of Deacon Michael Humphrey and Mercy Humphrey. Dudley Humphrey married Keziah Griswold, daughter of Edward Griswold and Abigail Griswold, on 14 October 1761 at Norfolk, Litchfield Co., CT. Dudley Humphrey died on 25 March 1794 at age 54.

Dudley and Keziah had no children. He was a lawyer; and represented the town of Norfolk, Conn., in General Assembly, 1779, '84, '85, May and October Sessions; 1788, October; 1789, '90, '91, May and October; and 1792, May. Rachel died with unimpaired mind and memory.
