Stevenson, daughter of Stefanus Johannsen and Charlotte (?), circa 1896.4 Almond Ebenezer Holcombe died on 17 April 1922 at Village of North Granby, Granby, Hartford Co., CT, at age 54.3,5 He was buried at Center Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT; I-170.6

Carol Laun looked up Almond in the Granby Town Records and found him in Vol 2, page 181, listing his parents and birth date and place.

Almond is listed in the 1900 Granby census, page 11B, line 58, with wife Ellen, and children Maud and Lewis A.

Almond is listed in the 1920 Granby census, page 10A, line 4, with wife Ellen, and children Alfred L., Ruth, Arthur A., Henry W., Florence, and Carl B. He was a tobacco farmer.

From the Courant 18 April 1922:

Almond E. Holcomb died at his home in North Granby this afternoon (17 April). The Funeral will be held at his home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev. Mr. Molander, pastor of the Swedish Congregational Church of North Granby will conduct the service. The burial will be in Granby Cemetery. Mr. Holcomb leaves his wife and several children.


Widow Ellen was enumerated in the 1930 Granby, Hartford Co., CT, federal census, district 143. Children in the household were Alfred 27, Arthur 22, and Henry 20. Ellen L. was again enumerated in Granby in 1940. She was a widow, age 65. Son Arthur, age 34, was enumerated in the household and was a warehouse laborer.
