     Obadiah Hayes II was born on 24 September 1781 at Salmon Brook Ecclesiastical Society, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Obediah Hayes and Ahinoam Holcombe. Obadiah Hayes II died on 2 June 1844 at Village of North Granby, Granby, Hartford Co., CT, at age 62.² He was buried at Baptist Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.²

     Ahinoam Hayes was born between 29 September 1782 and 1783 at Salmon Brook Ecclesiastical Society, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Obediah Hayes and Ahinoam Holcombe. Ahinoam Hayes married Oliver Coe, son of James Coe and Rachel Benton, on 12 September 1802 at Village of North Granby, Granby, Hartford Co., CT. Ahinoam Hayes died on 12 June 1867 at NY.

     Cephas Hayes was born on 19 September 1785 at Salmon Brook Ecclesiastical Society, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Obediah Hayes and Ahinoam Holcombe. Cephas Hayes married Betsey Rice on 5 March 1809.¹

     Amherst Hayes was born on 3 March 1788 at Salmon Brook Ecclesiastical Society, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Obediah Hayes and Ahinoam Holcombe. Amherst Hayes married Sallie Coe on 10 September 1811 at CT.² Amherst Hayes married Martha Newton in 1825 at Colesville, Broome Co., NY.³ Amherst Hayes died on 2 August 1871 at Colesville, Broome Co., NY, at age 83.³

     Bathsheba Hayes was born on 6 June 1790 at Salmon Brook Ecclesiastical Society, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Obediah Hayes and Ahinoam Holcombe. Bathsheba Hayes married Adijah Dibble, son of Moses Dibble Jr. and Elizabeth Hoskins.¹ Bathsheba Hayes died on 20 January 1871 at age 80.¹ She was buried at Cooley Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹

     Roland Hayes was born on 3 May 1794 at Salmon Brook Ecclesiastical Society, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Obediah Hayes and Ahinoam Holcombe. Roland Hayes married Patience Barnes, daughter of Thomas Barnes and Phoebe (?), on 27 August 1817 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹ Roland Hayes died on 18 May 1877 at Southington, Hartford Co., CT, at age 83.¹

Roland and Patience were enumerated in the 1850 Granby, Hartford Co., CT, federal census. He was a farmer, age 55, she was 53. Children in the household were Frances 19, Lucia 17, Elizabeth 8, and Franklin B. 23. They were enumerated in the same dwelling with son James.

     Harvey Holcomb Hayes was born on 23 May 1796 at Salmon Brook Ecclesiastical Society, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Obediah Hayes and Ahinoam Holcombe. Harvey Holcomb Hayes married Anna Maria Porter, daughter of John W. Porter and Rebecca Cheney, on 19 April 1839; no issue.¹ Harvey Holcomb Hayes died on 20 July 1867 at Rock Island, IL, at age 71.¹

Harvey graduated from Union College in 1824 and Princeton Theological Seminary; served as Chaplain in the US Navy, 1825-31; was principal of the school, Yelinople, PA, 1831-36; Professor in Marion (MO) College; pastor in IL and IA until 1866, when he lived in Washington, DC; on the church roll, Salmonbrook, CT, 1818. ²

     Rev. Gordon Hayes was born on 24 April 1798 at Salmon Brook Ecclesiastical Society, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Obediah Hayes and Ahinoam Holcombe. Rev. Gordon Hayes married Mary Dewey Fassett on 25 April 1829 at Cambridge, Washington Co., NY.¹ Rev. Gordon Hayes died on 26 May 1874 at Muscatine, Muscatine Co., IA, at age 76.¹

Gordon was on the Church Covenant, Salmonbrook, Hartford Co., CT 1816; graduated Yale University, 1823; Andover Theological Seminary, 1827; ordained July 32, 1828 as Presbyterian Minister at Cambridge, NY; moved to Washington, Conn., 1829, where he was pastor 23 years, - later at Arlington, VT and Brighton, IA; lived in Muscatine, IA, after 1865. ²

Gordon and Mary D. were enumerated in the 1850, Washington, Litchfield Co., CT, federal census. He was a Cong. Clergyman, age 52, she was 48. Children in the household were Edward 14, John 12, Lydia 10, and Daniel 7.

     Nancy Hayes was born on 24 August 1800 at Salmon Brook Ecclesiastical Society, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Obediah Hayes and Ahinoam Holcombe. Nancy Hayes married Chester Alderman II, son of Chester Alderman and Dorcas Haskins, on 18 February 1826. Nancy Hayes died after 1 May 1883 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.

     Homer Hayes was born on 7 February 1803 at Salmon Brook Ecclesiastical Society, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Obediah Hayes and Ahinoam Holcombe. Homer Hayes married Dorcas Alderman, daughter of Chester Alderman and Dorcas Haskins, at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. Homer Hayes married Emily L. Crocker, daughter of William Crocker and Deborah Benedict, on 6 November 1842 at Constantia, Oswego Co., NY.² Homer Hayes died on 27 July 1883 at age 80.²

Homer was a teacher, farmer, Postmaster and Justice of the Peace in Constantia, Oswego, Co., NY.


Homerand Emily "Haze" were enumerated in the 1850 Constantia, Oswego Co., NY, federal census. He was a farmer age 47; she was 42. Children in the household were Elmer Coe 11, and Charles Haze 6.

Homer and Emily were enumerated in the 1880 Schroeppel, Oswego Co., NY, federal census in the household of his son Charles. He was 77, she was 73.

     John Shelden Hayes was born in 1820.¹ He was the son of Obadiah Hayes II and Catherine Shelden. John Shelden Hayes died on 5 August 1859.¹ He was buried at Baptist Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹

     Collins Hayes was born in 1822. He was the son of Obadiah Hayes II and Catherine Shelden. Collins Hayes died Mrch 15, 1849.

     Harvey O. Hayes was born on 1 November 1824. He was the son of Obadiah Hayes II and Catherine Shelden.

     George H. Hayes was born circa 1830.¹ He was the son of Obadiah Hayes II and Catherine Shelden. George H. Hayes died on 28 September 1881; consumption.¹ He was buried at Baptist Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹

George was a blacksmith.

     Nelson A. Hayes was born in 1832. He was the son of Obadiah Hayes II and Catherine Shelden. Nelson A. Hayes died on 24 March 1870.¹ He was buried at Baptist Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹

     Bliss R. Hayes was born on 4 September 1834. He was the son of Obadiah Hayes II and Catherine Shelden.

     Daniel Hayes was born in April 1836. He was the son of Obadiah Hayes II and Catherine Shelden. Daniel Hayes died on 16 November 1836.

     Oliver Coe was born on 21 September 1778 at East Granville, MA. He was the son of James Coe and Rachel Benton. Oliver Coe married Ahinoam Hayes, daughter of Obediah Hayes and Ahinoam Holcombe, on 12 September 1802 at Village of North Granby, Granby, Hartford Co., CT. Oliver Coe died on 16 January 1840 at Vernon, NY, at age 61.

     Elmer Wilson Coe was born on 2 August 1810 at East Granville, MA.¹ He was the son of Oliver Coe and Ahinoam Hayes. Elmer Wilson Coe married Emily L. Crocker, daughter of William Crocker and Deborah Benedict, at East Granville, MA. Elmer Wilson Coe died on 9 August 1840 at Constantia, NY, at age 30.¹

     Harvey Hayes Coe was born on 4 April 1812 at East Granville, MA.¹ He was the son of Oliver Coe and Ahinoam Hayes.

Harvey was a farmer, S. Evanston, IL. ²

     David Benton Coe DD was born on 16 August 1814 at East Granville, MA.¹ He was the son of Oliver Coe and Ahinoam Hayes. David Benton Coe DD married Rebecca Phoenix on 6 January 1841 at New Haven, New Haven Co., CT.¹

David was Secretary of the American Home Mission Society, New York City. ²


David and Rebecca were enumerated in the 1880 Bloomfield, Essex Co., NJ, federal census. He was a clergyman, 65; she was 62. Also in the household were son-in-law Halsey M. Barrett, a lawyer age 28; daughter Mary C. Barrett 30; sister Mary E. Coe, 58; two servants; and granddaughter Mary F. Barrett, 9 months.

     Anna Urania Coe was born on 2 October 1816 at East Granville, MA.¹ She was the daughter of Oliver Coe and Ahinoam Hayes. Anna Urania Coe died on 1 February 1835 at age 18.

     Mary Elizabeth Coe was born on 2 September 1821 at East Granville, MA. She was the daughter of Oliver Coe and Ahinoam Hayes. Mary Elizabeth Coe lived at Bloomfield, NJ.

     Son Coe was born on 15 August 1827 at East Granville, MA. He was the son of Oliver Coe and Ahinoam Hayes. Son Coe died on 17 August 1827 at East Granville, MA.

     Emily L. Crocker was born on 20 February 1808 at Winchester, CT.¹ She was the daughter of William Crocker and Deborah Benedict.¹ Emily L. Crocker married Elmer Wilson Coe, son of Oliver Coe and Ahinoam Hayes, at East Granville, MA. Emily L. Crocker married Homer Hayes, son of Obediah Hayes and Ahinoam Holcombe, on 6 November 1842 at Constantia, Oswego Co., NY.¹

     Dorcas Alderman was born circa 1806.¹ She was the daughter of Chester Alderman and Dorcas Haskins. Dorcas Alderman married Homer Hayes, son of Obediah Hayes and Ahinoam Holcombe, at Granby, Hartford Co., CT. Dorcas Alderman died on 13 November 1839 at Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was buried at Baptist Cemetery, Granby, Hartford Co., CT.¹

     Chester Alderman was born on 7 September 1778.¹ He was the son of Daniel Alderman and Thankful Griffin. Chester Alderman died in 1831.¹

     Chester Alderman II was born in 1803. He was the son of Chester Alderman and Dorcas Haskins. Chester Alderman II married Nancy Hayes, daughter of Obediah Hayes and Ahinoam Holcombe, on 18 February 1826. Chester Alderman II died on 1 November 1829.

     Sarah Uraniah Coe was born on 10 January 1831. She was the daughter of Elmer Wilson Coe and Emily L. Crocker. Sarah Uraniah Coe died in 1834.

     Oliver Wilson Coe was born on 28 January 1834. He was the son of Elmer Wilson Coe and Emily L. Crocker.

     Frank Erwin White was born on 21 July 1857. He was the son of Oliver Pomeroy White and Mary Rice Holcombe. Frank Erwin White married Mary Perkins. Frank Erwin White died in 1916.

Frank and Mary were enumerated in the 1900 Jay, Martin Co., MN, federal census. He was a farmer, age 42, she was 32. Children in the household were Fred 12, Edna 10, Olive 7, Frank 5, Robert 3, and Wallace 11 months.

Mary was enumerated in the 1920 Manyaska, Martin Co., MN, federal census. She was widowed, age 53. Children in the household were Fred H. 32, Frank F. 25, Robert 24, Wallace W. 20, Margaret E. 17, Elinor 15, Evelyn 11, daughter-in-law Celia, 25, and grandson Donald Cornell 7.

     Mary Perkins was born on 27 August 1866. She married Frank Erwin White, son of Oliver Pomeroy White and Mary Rice Holcombe. Mary Perkins died on 23 October 1959 at age 93.

     Fred Carleton White was born on 11 July 1861. He was the son of Oliver Pomeroy White and Mary Rice Holcombe. Fred Carleton White was buried in September 1912 at Elmwood Cemetery, Sycamore, DeKalb Co., IL. He died in September 1912 at age 51.

     Kendall Jackman was born on 22 September 1824 at Chateaugay, Franklin Co., NY. He was the son of Abner Jackman and Mary L. Kendall. Kendall Jackman married Mary Rice Holcombe, daughter of Sylvanus Holcombe and Julia B. Joslyn, on 20 October 1869 at Sycamore, DeKalb Co., IL. Kendall Jackman died on 7 August 1907 at Genoa, DeKalb Co., IL, at age 82.

     Lydia Case was born on 25 August 1763 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ She was the daughter of Hosea Case and Mary Case.

     Sadosea Case was born in April 1761 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Hosea Case and Mary Case.

     Zacheus Holcombe was born on 21 September 1762 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Nathaniel Holcombe V and Hannah Holcombe. Zacheus Holcombe married Sarah Bettes on 1 May 1788.²

Zacheus is not mentioned by McPherson, but Bates shows this birth noting that he was the son of Nathaniel Holcomb 4th, but that "the '4th' is in a different ink and apparently a later hand." It is to be noted that Zacheus' uncle Zaccheus Holcombe died earlier that same year. It is entirely possible that Zacheus is the child of Nathaniel and Margaret Cossett, named after their recently departed son.

     Mary Case was born on 19 January 1755 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Joshua Case Jr. and Lydia Griswold. Mary Case was baptized on 26 January 1755 at Wintonbury Church.

     Alexander Case was born on 9 November 1756 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He was the son of Joshua Case Jr. and Lydia Griswold. Alexander Case was baptized on 14 November 1756 at Wintonbury Church. He died on 12 May 1763 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 6.
