     Julia Hayden was born on 29 September 1827. She was the daughter of Miles Lester Hayden and Arminda Blood.

     Ruth Anne Hayden was born circa 1829. She was the daughter of Miles Lester Hayden and Arminda Blood.

     Lester Hayden was born on 10 March 1831. He was the son of Miles Lester Hayden and Arminda Blood.

     Mary Hayden was born on 7 November 1837. She was the daughter of Miles Lester Hayden and Arminda Blood. Mary Hayden died in June 1877 at age 39.

     Watson Dexter Hayden was born on 12 November 1832. He was the son of Miles Lester Hayden and Arminda Blood.

     Wesley Hayden was born on 12 November 1835. He was the son of Miles Lester Hayden and Arminda Blood. Wesley Hayden died in May 1873 at age 37.

     Joseph Hayden was born circa 1840. He was the son of Miles Lester Hayden and Arminda Blood.

     Raymond Arthur Holcombe was born on 27 November 1921 at San Francisco, San Francisco Co., CA. He was the son of Elbridge Holcombe and Helen Levy. Raymond Arthur Holcombe died on 17 September 1983 at age 61.¹

     Charles Myer was born on 18 January 1921.¹ He died on 8 June 1991 at Modesto, Stanislaus Co., CA, at age 70.¹

     James Robert Holcombe was born on 13 November 1944. He was the son of Raymond Arthur Holcombe and Theodora Stella Tramontanas. James Robert Holcombe died on 19 July 1978 at Logging accident, Skamania Co., WA, at age 33.

Robert graduated from Westmoor High School, Daly City, CA, Class of 1962. He served in the US Army, Specialist Five. Buried in the Skylawn Cemetery.

     Israel Putnam Case was born on 24 June 1781 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.^1,2 He was the son of Capt. Israel Case and Joanna Case. Israel Putnam Case married Laurinda Morrison, daughter of Alexander Morrison and Mehitable Hall, in July 1811 at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH.³ Israel Putnam Case died on 20 September 1832 at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH, at age 51. He was buried at St. John's Cemetery, Worthington, Franklin Co., OH.³

Israel P. Case, referred to as Putnam in his father's will, was a member of the Scioto Company advance work party in the summer of 1803 and became a proprietor himself receiving two town lots and a 93 acre farm lot in partnership with Abner P. Pinney. He was one of the incorporators of St. John's Episcopal Church in 1807. During the war of 1812 he served as the militia captain of a light infantry company in the 1st Battalion of the 3rd Regiment which was called out may 29, 1812 for approximately three months service. Israel and Laurinda's family lived on a seventy-one acre farm north of Worthington between the Delaware pike and the Whetstone River. This was sold after his death for $28 per acre, indicating significant impairments. He also owned property west of the river just south of the road to Dublin where 40 acres was set aside to his widow. According to the cemetery sexton, Israel P.'s death in 1832 was caused by 'intemperance.' Laurinda was left with seven children, most still in school. She remarried but was again widowed and lived her final days with her children. ⁴

     Laurinda Morrison was born on 10 March 1790 at Blanford, Hampden Co., MA. She was the daughter of Alexander Morrison and Mehitable Hall. Laurinda Morrison married Israel Putnam Case, son of Capt. Israel Case and Joanna Case, in July 1811 at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH.¹ Laurinda Morrison died on 2 August 1879 at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH, at age 89.

     Alexander Morrison was baptized on 25 August 1752 at Boston, Suffolk Co., MA.¹ He was the son of William Morrison and Sarah Montgomery. Alexander Morrison married Ann Thompson, daughter of John Thompson and Bridget Almy, after 30 October 1776 at Blanford, Hampden Co., MA.¹ Alexander Morrison married Mehitable Hall, daughter of Reuben Hall and Ruth Gilbert, on 18 December 1783 at Blanford, Hampden Co., MA.¹ Alexander Morrison died on 20 October 1810 at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH, at age 58.¹ He was buried at St. John's Cemetery, Worthington, Franklin Co., OH.¹

Alexander was one of the original 38 members of the Scioto Company that partitioned land on August 11, 1804.²

     Mila Case was born on 31 May 1816 at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of Israel Putnam Case and Laurinda Morrison. Mila Case married Alvin Orlando Case, son of Orlando Case and Sarah Crippen, on 19 January 1837 at Franklin Co., OH.¹ Mila Case died on 10 September 1896 at Franklin Co., OH, at age 80.¹ She was buried at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH.

     Dorcas Moses was born on 31 October 1748 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Timothy Moses and Sarah Phelps. Dorcas Moses married Isaac Case Jr., son of Isaac Case and Bathsheba Humphrey. Dorcas Moses died on 26 December 1775 at "in child bed", Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT, at age 27.¹ She was buried at Hopmeadow Cemetery, Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.²

     Isaac Case was born on 11 February 1771 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT.¹ He was the son of Isaac Case Jr. and Dorcas Moses.¹ Isaac Case married Jane Adams, daughter of Timothy Adams and Lydia Riley, circa 1792 at CT. Isaac Case died on 2 April 1851 at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH, at age 80.¹

Ruth Cost Duncan and Gail Headlee differ on some of the dates for Isaac and Jane. Gail lists Isaac's birth as 10 Feb 1772, Ruth lists it as 11 Feb 1771. Isaac's birthdate is not listed in the Simsbury Red Book.

St. John's Episcopal Church Cemetery, 700 High Street, Worthington. Gail Headlee visited gravesite Aug 2000. Tombstone inscription: Isaac Case, died April 2, 1851, aged 80 yrs. There is also a marker for Isaac Case at nearby Walnut Grove Cemetery, where his wife Jane is buried. The marker is a four sided monument, with Isaac and Jane's names on one side, an I.N. Case and his wife Emily (son of Isaac & Jane?) on another, and Daniel Loy and Emily A. Loy, daughter of I.N. & E. Case, on another. The marker at Walnut Grove is likely only a memorial to Isaac, and he is probably buried at St. John's. Tombstone inscription at Walnut Grove (four sided monument, decorative top broken off and lying nearby on the ground): I.N. Case, Died Jan. 13, 1890, Aged 82 y, 3 m, 28 d. Emily, his wife, Died Jan. 10, 1849, Aged 37 y, 11 m, 26 d. Isaac Case, Died Apr. 2, 1851, Aged 79 y, 1 m, 21 d. Jane, wife of Isaac Case, Died Sep. 16, 1872, Aged 99 y, 5 d. Daniel Loy, Died Nov. 19, 1888. Emily A. Loy, dau of I.N. & E. Case, Died Jan 13, 1888, Aged 40 y, 1 m, 2 d.

Ruth lists Janes birth date as 11 Sep 1777 while Gail's research says 11 Sep 1773. Ruth lists her parents as Timothy Adams and Lydia Riley, while Gail lists them as Timothy Adams and Susanna (--?--).

     Jane Adams was born on 11 September 1777 at Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. She was the daughter of Timothy Adams and Lydia Riley. Jane Adams married Isaac Case, son of Isaac Case Jr. and Dorcas Moses, circa 1792 at CT. Jane Adams died on 16 September 1872 at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH, at age 95.

     Orlando Case was born in 1798.¹ He was the son of Isaac Case and Jane Adams.¹

Orlando and Sarah were enumerated in the 1860 Perry, Franklin Co., OH, federal census. He was a farmer, age 66, she was 65. The only child in the household was Mary L. 17.

     Alvin Orlando Case was born on 17 April 1816 at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH.¹ He was the son of Orlando Case and Sarah Crippen. Alvin Orlando Case married Mila Case, daughter of Israel Putnam Case and Laurinda Morrison, on 19 January 1837 at Franklin Co., OH.¹ Alvin Orlando Case died on 6 September 1898 at Franklin Co., OH, at age 82.¹ He was buried at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Worthington, Franklin Co., OH.¹

Alvin farmed in Perry Township where he and Mila raised their family of ten children a mile or two west of Worthington. In 1860 he owned no land but had $200 of equipment and $400 worth of livestock including 3 horses, 2 cows, 5 other cattle, 29 sheep and 35 swine. He produced 48 bushels of wheat, 500 of corn, 80 of oats, 80 of potatoes, 2 tons of hay, 80 pounds of wool and 50 of butter. Alvin and Mila died at their home at Elmwood (now Linworth). Scioto Company Descendants, McCormick p. 84.²

Alvin O. and Mila were enumerated in the 1860 Perry, Franklin Co., OH, federal census. He was a farmer, age 44, she was 44. Children in the household were Theadore 20, Josephene 18, Flroina 16, Viola 14, Frank 11, Sterne 9, Rose 6, Friend 4, and Cora 3 months.

     Laura L. Case was born on 10 December 1837 at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH. She was the daughter of Alvin Orlando Case and Mila Case. Laura L. Case married Joseph T. Bowers, son of Peter Bower and Mary Davis, on 22 March 1858 at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH.¹ Laura L. Case died on 20 March 1920 at Perry Township, Franklin Co., OH, at age 82.

Their marriage license was issued in Franklin County, Ohio, 27 Mar 1858. Scioto Company Descendants gives the marriage date as 22 Mar 1858. Dublin, Ohio Memories, the Dublin Historical Society, gives marriage date as 28 Mar 1858.

"Joseph Bower was recorded in the census as a farmer in Perry Township west of Worthington, but he evidently rented land and probably also worked at another occupation to support his family. " McComick Scioto Company Descendants, p. 89.


Laura was enumerated in the 1910 Perry Twp. Franklin Co., OH, federal census. She was a widow, age 71. Also in the household were sons Lee G. 43, and Charles A. 31.


Laura was enumerated in the 1920 Perry, Franklin Co., OH, federal census. She was a widow, age 82. Also in the household were sons Lee G. 54, and Charles A. 42.


Laura died at 10am, probably at home. Funeral arrangements by Samuel E. Corbin, Worthington, Ohio. Information on her death certificate was by Charles A. Bower, her son. She was buried in the Dublin Cemetery, Northeast quadrant of old section, lot 311. No marker. Death Certificate, State of Ohio #21828, filed 26 Mar 1920.

Joseph was killed when a cake of ice fell on him while it was being cut for storage in the ice house. ²

     Joseph T. Bowers was born on 20 December 1832 at OH. He was the son of Peter Bower and Mary Davis. Joseph T. Bowers married Laura L. Case, daughter of Alvin Orlando Case and Mila Case, on 22 March 1858 at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH.¹ Joseph T. Bowers died on 21 January 1881 at Franklin Co., OH, at age 48.

     Gladys V. Bowers was born on 20 December 1872. She was the daughter of Joseph T. Bowers and Laura L. Case. Gladys V. Bowers married Jacob Leppert, son of Christian Leppert and Maria Rosa Siefert, in 1893. Gladys V. Bowers died on 31 July 1954 at age 81.

     Jacob Leppert was born on 10 August 1865 at Dublin, Franklin Co., OH. He was the son of Christian Leppert and Maria Rosa Siefert. Jacob Leppert married Gladys V. Bowers, daughter of Joseph T. Bowers and Laura L. Case, in 1893. Jacob Leppert died on 5 August 1934 at Columbus, Franklin Co., OH, at age 68.

     Christian Leppert married Maria Rosa Siefert in 1847 at Germany.

     Ada F. Bowers also went by the name of Addie Bowers.¹ She was born on 14 July 1859 at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH. She was the daughter of Joseph T. Bowers and Laura L. Case. Ada F. Bowers married Charles Ernest Pinney on 28 October 1880 at Franklin Co., OH.² Ada F. Bowers died before 1910.²

     Mary T. Bowers was born on 28 November 1861. She was the daughter of Joseph T. Bowers and Laura L. Case. Mary T. Bowers died on 13 November 1878 at age 16.

     Carrie M. Bowers was born on 29 December 1863 at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH. She was the daughter of Joseph T. Bowers and Laura L. Case. Carrie M. Bowers died on 12 November 1884 at age 20.¹

     Florence M. Bowers was born on 20 November 1870 at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH. She was the daughter of Joseph T. Bowers and Laura L. Case. Florence M. Bowers married James Meteer, son of Margaret A. (?), circa 1895.^1,2 Florence M. Bowers died in 1938.¹

James and Flora A. were enumerated in the 1900 Perry, Franklin Co., OH, federal census. He was a farmer age 32, she was 29; they had been married four years and both of Flora's children were still alive. Children in the household were William F. 3, and Champion M. 11 months. James' mother, Margaret A, age 68, was also in the household.


James and Flora A. were enumerated in the 1910 Perry Twp., Franklin Co., OH, federal census. He was a dairy farmer age 41, she was 39. Five of Florence's six children were still living: W. Frank 13, Champion M. 10, Anna M. 7, Wendell P. 5, and Monore 3.


Florence and James were enumerated in the 1920 Perry, Franklin Co., OH, federal census. He was a farmer age 51, she was 49. Children in the household were William 23, Champion 20, Anna 17, Wendell 15, Monroe 13, and Raymond 7.


Florence was enumerated in the 1930 Norwich, Franklin Co., OH, federal census. She was a widow age 59. Son Raymond, age 18 was also in the household.

     Joseph Earnest Bowers was born on 24 July 1874 at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH. He was the son of Joseph T. Bowers and Laura L. Case. Joseph Earnest Bowers died on 9 September 1875 at age 1.¹

     Charles Andrew Bowers was born on 24 November 1877 at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH. He was the son of Joseph T. Bowers and Laura L. Case.

     Amber Gertrude Bowers was born on 19 March 1880 at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH. She was the daughter of Joseph T. Bowers and Laura L. Case.

     Philo Theodore Case was also known as Theodore Philo Case.¹ He was born on 12 March 1840 at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH.¹ He was the son of Alvin Orlando Case and Mila Case. Philo Theodore Case married Minerva Ann Sullivan on 30 March 1863 at Franklin Co., OH. Philo Theodore Case died on 18 May 1929 at Columbus, Franklin Co., OH, at age 89.¹ He was buried at Powell Cemetery, Powell, Delaware Co., OH.¹

     Minerva Ann Sullivan was born on 6 February 1840 at OH.¹ She married Philo Theodore Case, son of Alvin Orlando Case and Mila Case, on 30 March 1863 at Franklin Co., OH. Minerva Ann Sullivan died on 13 June 1912 at Powell, Delaware Co., OH, at age 72.¹ She was buried at Powell Cemetery, Powell, Delaware Co., OH.¹

     Josephine Case was born on 28 March 1842 at Worthington, Franklin Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of Alvin Orlando Case and Mila Case. Josephine Case married William Jerome Phillips on 21 September 1871 at Franklin Co., OH.¹ Josephine Case died on 23 August 1881 at age 39. She was buried at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Worthington, Franklin Co., OH.¹
Jerone enlisted as a private in Company D of the 20th Ohio Volunteer Infantry.²

     William Jerome Phillips was born in September 1841 at OH.¹ He married Josephine Case, daughter of Alvin Orlando Case and Mila Case, on 21 September 1871 at Franklin Co., OH.¹ William Jerome Phillips was buried at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Worthington, Franklin Co., OH.
