Israel Ellsworth married Hopestill Stevens, daughter of Benjamn Stevens and Hopestill Shaw, in 1777 at Rutland, VT. Capt. Israel Ellsworth died in 1834 at Fairfax Co, VA.
Israel lived in Connecticut, Vermont, and Fairfax County, Virginia. He served with the Green Mountain Boys of Vermont in the Revolutionary War. He went to Virginia around 1790, from Bradford County, Pa. He also lived in Charlestown, Maryland, Washington, DC, and Fairfax, Virginia.
Israel then deserted his first wife, went by the moniker "Israel Ellsworth Holliday", including filing his Revolutionary War Pension application under this name, on 15 Oct 1832.

Eliphalet Ellsworth married Bethia Thatcher, daughter of John Thatcher and Sarah Richardson, on 6 November 1814 at Susquehanna City, PA.2 Eliphalet Ellsworth died on 9 September 1846 at South Ottawa, La Salle Co., IL, at age 55.2 He was buried at Vermillionville Cemetery (now Deer Park), Deer Park, La Salle Co., IL.2
Eliphalet was drafted but was never called into service during the War of 1812. They lived in Harford, PA, and he removed in October 1837 to South Ottawa, La Salle Co., IL, and in the follwing spring sent for his family; they traveled by covered wagon and arrived 19 June 1838 and settled on Section 31. Among Bethiah's children who accompanied her were William Anson Ellsworth, her second son and her daughters, Betsey Bailey, Almira, Nancy Ann and Clarissa. Her oldest son Philander Ellsworth and wife Henrietta, traveled in anther wagon. Nancy died 10 days after arriving in Illinois. 2

Either, William Jr. or his father enlisted Sept 29, 1861 as a private in Co. E. 38th Ga Confederate Vol. Inf., Wright's Legion. Discharged August 8, 1862, but it is most likely that this enlistment was for William Sr.
However, there was an enlistment of W. P. Holcombe in the 40th Georgia Infantry, that may be for William Jr. W.P. Holcombe Sept 1, 1862, as a private, in Norton, GA, and was assigned to company I or J. The muster roll for November and December 1862 says that W.P. "left sick in Vicksburg, Mississippi."
