He was a native of Wisconsin where he was born years ago. The family lived in this city many years prior to moving to Grays Harbor nine years ago.

He was buried on 8 August 2012 at Wells Town Cemetery, Wells, Rutland Co., VT.1

Stanley Arthur Holcomb, 71, passed away Aug. 4, 2012, at his daughter's home in Wells, Vt., following a long illness.

Stanley was born Aug. 9, 1940, in Pawlet, Vt., the son of the late Richard and Leeta (Corey) Holcomb.

Stanley was a building contractor and a familiar face throughout the valley. He was an extremely hard worker. He enjoyed hunting and also liked playing softball and baseball. But his real treasured time was that spent with his grandchildren. He was an Army veteran. Stanley was a member of the Modern Woodman in Wells, Vt., a member of Pawlet Community Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern and the Morning Flower Lodge in Pawlet.

In addition to his parents, Stanley was predeceased by a brother, Richard A. Holcomb, and a sister, Grace Hurley.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Sandra (Mason) Holcomb. He is also survived by his son, Jeffrey and his wife, Susan, of Wells, Vt; and a daughter, Theresa Pauquette, and her husband, Richard, also of Wells, Vt. He was blessed with five grandchildren, Lauren, Hannah, Erik, Bryce and Amber; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, N.Y., with the Rev. Robert Bushmen, Stanley's nephew, presiding.

Burial will follow at the Wells Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at the funeral home.

Stanley and Sandra were married while he was serving in the Army at Ft. Devens.

Judge Henry Matson Waite1

b. 9 February 1787, d. 14 December 1869
     Judge Henry Matson Waite was born on 9 February 1787 at Lyme, New London Co., CT.1 He was the son of Remick Waite and Susanah Matson.1 Judge Henry Matson Waite married Maria Selden on 23 January 1816.1 Judge Henry Matson Waite died on 14 December 1869 at Lyme, New London Co., CT, at age 82.1 He was buried at Duck River Cemetery, Old Lyme, New London Co., CT.2

Henry Waite was the eldest child of Remick and Susannah (Matson) Waite. He entered College at the beginning of Sophomore year, from Bacon Academy, Colchester, Conn. Early in 1810, he commenced the study of law with Hon. Matthew Griswold and Ex-Gov. Roger Gnswold, of Lyme. He was admitted to the bar in Dec, 1812, and pursued the practice of his profession thereafter in his native town. In 1815, he was a representative in the lower branch of the State Legislature, and after that was repeatedly re-elected; in 1832 and 1833 he was a member of the State Senate. In 1834, he was elected an Associate Judge of the Superior Court and Supreme Court of Errors, and twenty years later, Chief Justice. In Febr., 1857, having reached the constitutional limit for judicial office, he retired to private life. The degree of Doctor of Laws was conferred upon him by Yale College in 1855.

Judge Waite married, 23 Jan., 1816, Maria, daughter of Col. Richard E. Selden, of Lyme. She died soon after the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding day. Of their eight children (seven sons and one daughter), three graduated at Yale College.
