"William left home with pioneers for the Western Reserve on Conn. in N. Ohio, which was granted to sufferers from the ravages of the American Revolution as fought in present Conn. It is located along the southern shore of Lake Erie and to-day preserves a distinctive reminder of New england. His pilgrimage ended at Rootstown (New Milford P.O.), Portage Co., O. Apr. 21, 1821 where he is recorded with his family in 1840 and 1850 Censuses as stone-cutter owning $4,100 real estate. He became a contractor for construction of buildings and later of R.R. bridges. He attended the Holcombe reunion at Mt. Airy (Lambertville), N.J. Aug 11, 1886. His grandch. were then holding a reunion at home in Ohio. He returned to Mr. Airy, N.J. Aug. 12, 1891 from his home then at Ravenna, O. for the 3rd Holcombe reunion, being then 87 years old."
