Officer, in Franklin, PA. She ws the oldest person in that city if not in northwestern Pennsylvania. Miss Holcombe was born in Granby, April 29, 1901 where she lived until 1859 when she left her native town to become a member of her nephew's family in Franklin. Born of puritan ancestryshe possessed the will courage and hope of the early New Englander. At an early age she united with the Congregational Church and was closely identified with its work and interests especially in the Sundsy school, where she was most prominent. For many years she ws the custom tailor of Granby and enployed most of her time in tailoring. Until the hour of her death she possessed her mental faculties. Her cheery disposition and loving words of comfort were an inspiration to all with whom she came in contact. Notwithstanding the many appeals from friends, relatives and the (unintelligable), Miss Holcombe had always refused to be photographed. Having outlived all of her relatives but two nephews, Mr. Officer and Wilson Holcombe of Washington D. C., she ws buried in the home of her adoption.
